if you pay for a trainz download and either the download or computer fails - are you charged twice or how many times it takes?

Hi,

If you have purchased the software from Simulator Central, then you get 10 download attempts, to cover for the described scenarios. :)

Edit: Take a look at this image, of Simulator Central (Only editing is a crop and the covering up of my serial numbers).

If you log in and go to the My Downloads section, it shows you the products you have purchased and the number of download attempts you have left. As you can see, I have 9 download attempts left, therefore I have only needed to download each file once.

Hope this answers your question. :)

Kieran.

If you need 11 attempts then you're probably going to have to re-purchase, but a Helpdesk ticket might provide a better result; i.e. the resetting of your download limit under the circumstances. It never hurts to ask! :)

Kieran.

P.S. Would that ISP be iiNet by any chance? :p

If you save anything you purchase and download on line you save it to disk or burn it to cd or dvd, no need to worry about it dissapearing then.

Ahh I see what you mean, there were a few people had the limits reset a while back due to failed downloads when the new shop opened.

Try downloading with firefox it has a download manager so normally there aren't the same problems as IE etc.

There's one problem there - N3V specifically state to not use a download manager. This is because each part of the file counts towards the downloads limit, so if you have a particular file split into 5 parts by the download manager, this would take 5 off the amount of downloads you have remaining.

What do you mean by a download limit? Your not downloading it from the DLS

Are you trying to say that this so called 100MB also applies when download with something that you are PAYING for?

There is a separate download limit for Simulator Central downloads - 10 attempts, regardless of whether the download is successful or not.

However, using a download manager also reduces the amount of attempts by the amount of parts that the file is split into by the download manager.

Firefox doesn't split downloads, it can however pause and resume which doesn't affect the download count and to answer the question no the 100MB limit does not apply to DLC. There is no limit on Murchison which says unlimited downloads and I think probably the same for the DLC other routes. As far as Trainz is concerned, it seems to be just the content packs that are restricted.

Firefox is more persistent, ie better at not giving up and will download where other software gives up. If N3V are now dictating which browser can be used for downloading they're even more up the wall than I'd given them credit for.

I believe the main reason they stated about download managers is due to the way some download managers (e.g. Star Downloader, GetRight etc) split the file into chunks).

Actually downloading is my last resort, especially with the huge price difference
Oh Captainkman, about your serial number, the first two digits of yours are even numbers!

At the moment, I think I can find it a lot cheaper (eg: by around $15 cheaper), and yes I made sure that it was clear what brand and what version it is.

But if I need to download it, what is the exact size of it please. I would like to know how big it is?

My out of the box Windows 7 machine with it's IE, both of which are up to date, failed to complete a download from Simulator Central multiple times.

I had to download Firefox in order to DL from Simulator Central.
