If you buy a tablet, how would you install an anti-virus if it has no DVD drive?

Curious, If you buy a computer tablet, how would you install an anti-virus if it has no DVD/CD drive, if the anti-virus only comes on a DVD/CD?

Do not worry about it, my granson advises me that I do not have to worry about his grandma's new Toshiba tablet, by the way it comes with Norton installled, also he advises not to download the APS which purport to be Anti Virus.

Okay thanks, but I was only curious just in case we brought one. But I don't trust Norton, after what their anti-virus did.

If you did buy one, can you copy the anti-virus files onto a suitable USB if it has a USB port?

I'd advise getting one that can be downloaded directly from the Internet, as most tablets (if not all) have some form of internet connectivity.

AVG, Avira etc are available using this method.

Wouldn't anti-virus apps for the iPad be available on Apple's App Store (as would such apps for iPhone)? Likewise, wouldn't such apps for Android tablets and phones be available on Google Play (the former Android Market)?

It depends on the operating system and the environment. If its windows 8 the Microsoft built in one is fine, Windows 7 you need to install the Microsoft Security suite. If its Apple I'd just pray, there doesn't seem to be much protection in the Apple world. Android is fairly safe but only use the app store to install new software.

CD, DVD, SSDs and hard drives can now be accessed by Wi-Fi from many tablets by the way depending on the operating system.
