Hi all,

This is my official guide to getting started in Trainz!

Well, the first thing you do is to look at the trains in the railyard, to get familiar with them. Next, drive the tutorials in driver and get the hang of everything in driver. Next, explore a few routes in surveyor, then try to make your own route in surveyor. Don't get mad if you think it's bad, no one's first route was perfect!

Good idea but i think you should of put more info on it, There is alot more to get started with.

errrr honestly whats the need for this? I think most people can figure this out for themselves. You need to add in details like how to operate trains, DCC vs. Cab mode, routebuilding etc. That will help people alot more.

an addition, go to http://www.trainzstation.com then download everything, open the files, double click the cdp's , then the CMP will open,it will show installed assets, then click 'view in list' then right click, then select select all, then right click again and click edit, then commit at the bottom.

You will now have some amazing looking locomotive done by SP_OR_BUST,one of the trainz kings(there are many)

Damn , just when I thought gradeschool had reopened and we would receive a break !

My thoughts ---,DLR

some people (like myself :p) will just go straight into it without even coming here. hell, i didnt come here until months after i started using trainz.

Also, not everyine will use that method, i just went straight to surveyor, it's all i use.

I agree with Donaldgatlin, it is a good idea, but i dont think it's really worth it :)

This is a nice start. You can use this as an outline that can serve as a template to build on for more information. You may want to include pictures with call outs, etc.

If you want some help, PM me. I've written a lot of documentation in the past.

You might setup an outline like this.

I. Introduction

A quick over view of Trainz

II. Rail Yard
A.Short introduction to the section
B. what it's used for
.... etc.

III. Driver
A. Short description
B. Cab Mode
C. DCC Mode
D. Tutorials

IV. Surveryor.
A. Short Introduction
B. The different Modules
a. Topology
b. Scenic Objects
c. Track Objects
etc.
etc.

Hope this helps. Again ask for help if you want.

John

I've lost track of how many times people have asked if this is really necessary. For crying out loud guys. The guy just wants to help. There isn't anything wrong with that. As for you who put in suggestions of your own, this isn't aimed at you.
