was wondering if Trainz had anything that worked like a retarder to slow the cars down after they were released. Ive searched the download station without any luck. I designed a small layout that featured a hump but was having a lot of derailing problems because I could not get the grade to work for all of the different situations, 10 cars roll farther than 2cars. I was sometimes hitting the stop and other times comming up way short. Well any suggestions would be appreciated.

The humpyard kit is over at TrainzProRoutes, but if you haven't already registered there, I'm not sure you'll be able to.:(

You're welcome. I don't know if it works for 12 or not, but there have been a few threads here about it, maybe search the forum for humpyard or retarder and see what you can find out.

The retarders can also be used separately from a humpyard. I use them to slow empties down after running thru my kickback dumper series. Work like a charm.

I can give you lots of help making a hump yard.

Basicly the hump is @ a 1% up grade, with a 0.01% down grade, after the hump car cut area.

In a long humpyard down hill grade, you can place many 100' short segments of 0.01% up hill tracks (which will act as up hill steps on the downhill grade, and act as car retarders).

You will only want a car to coast downhill at @ 1-5 mph.

Check the Watseka and Kankakee (I think that is the correct spelling) on the DLS by MSGSapper. It has a working hump yard.

Humpyard solutions

Thanks to all who replied to my call for help. I should be able to come up with a solution after recieving all of these great ideas.

Hi

Look on the DLS for Directional Speed Retarder kuid:160293:100123 by trev999. This works well and can be adjusted to get the effect that you want.

Well i made a hump yard before and the cars roll, and then stop about in the middle of the track. Or you can place some cars already there like a "real" hump yard would be..:D
