I need some help! PLEASE!!!!

:'( I tried that too. Everything I've tried is much older content.

Even the folder named "My Own World" in the Trash folder contains a map file that has a time stamp of around 10am this morning. But at least that would be newer than anything else I've found so far. Is that useable? will it contain both my route and session?

I think I'm screwed here... think I'll be creating a new route from scratch. ugh.
Hi can you give this a try first copy the My world from the Trash folder and paste it on your desktop, make sure you can see it on there once you have pasted it.
Next open content manager once the page has opened go to the top left and click onto File you will now see a list, from that list select import content and left click onto it
You will now get a Browse for Folder box open make sure you browse to your desktop and locate and click onto the My World folder selecting OK at the bottom of the browse box
Content manager will now import that folder and depending on how you have the content manager set up put it in the open for edit
Or may have auto committed it.
Either way you should see a notice Result and it should say it has installed asset and a kuid number you should also see an option to view in main list choose that option.
If it is open for edit you have to commit it so right click on the file then select edit and left click onto commit.
The content is now in 06 and ready for use once you load in 06

Both these last 2 replies are extremely helpful. I'm going to try both. I do have one question before I do -- how do I find my kuid number? I'm such a newbie!

Thanks again! I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

Mike.

Well, I tried both approaches and still nothing.

This might be a hint at something -- I tried this approach outlined in the quote in this post and I got an error. It said the mapfile.bmk was an unsupported file. So, I think there is a corruption there that might be at the root of all of this.

I also tried the other suggestion about filtering in CM and such and I still could not find anything.

Soooo.... I think it's just gone... it is floating around in another dimension in cyberspace, some whispy figment of an electron's parallel existence, neither here nor there and yet both here and there at the same time. Truly a quantum nightmare.

Time to start my next project. :)

Mike - I am sorry that you have lost your work, but the experience you have gained will serve you well in future. I am sure there were parts of your layout that were not to your liking and that you had wished to build it in a different way. Now you can start anew with a fresh outlook.

So far, I have never done a database repair and am avoiding doing one as far as possible. That is probably what caused the corruption.

I suggest that you bookmark this post and practice the recovery procedure on a test route. Clone the route and make a session in each route. Then change the map-kuid of one session to point to the other route. If you can achieve that you will be able to recover from a mistake in future.

Your <kuid number> is the part between the colons on a route or session that stays the same for every entry.

All the very best for the New Year to everyone.

Trevor

I'm confused as to exactly what's left and what isn't, but back up what you can to a CDP file and email it to yourself.

I had a somewhat similar problem which was solved by a Windows System Restore. Of course, whether that's even an option for you depends on when Restore points were saved.
