I need an engineer

How does one go about putting a physical engineer/driver in the cab of a loco? Are there certain drivers from the listing that will appear in the cab when they are assigned, or is this something that the content creator has to do when they build a loco? I've noticed that in some of the loco's that I use there are drivers and in others , not.

Thanks.

If you're looking to get the actual person looking figure to appear in the cab it depends. I believe the figure of the driver is "built in" as a kuid, but I'm not entirely sure. For example, some content I downloaded from JR sometimes has the person figure in it and sometimes it does not. Its up to the content creator.

In "normal" cases the driver is added when the locomotive is placed on the route, weather by QuickDrive or in creating a session.

They can be removed however, to simulate an unmanned loco (although it will still be running, that takes more work that I am unfamiliar with) by removing that driver from the "Drivers" list in QuickDrive or in the sessions rules when making the session.

As mentioned, some locos have a driver in them all the time, as "He" is part of the model. Ben Neal's locos come to mind.

In order for a driver mesh to appear in the cab, the loco needs a a.driver attachment point in the correct place (i.e. in the cab). From memory, you may be able to use a.driver1 for the opposite end of the loco if it's a double-ended locomotive (like the BR Class 66 trains).

I think the OP is confused by there being three possibilities:

The loco has the required a.driver0 attachment point and the selected driver will show up,

The creator has added a driver mesh so that although you have to select a driver to drive the loco, the creator's driver will show up,

The creator has not provided an a.driver0 attachment point so the selected driver is invisible.
