I have some ideas

As the title says, i have some ideas. It's a decent sized list & has many locomotives that can be done(if they're not already done).
Here's the list:

the Norfolk & Western steam-turbine-electric "Jawn Henry"
the PRR S2 steam-turbine #6200
Fictional Heritage diesels:
for NS: Norfolk & Western, Southern, Wabash, Nickle Plate
Road, Virginian, & Pennsylvania
for CSX: Western Maryland, B&O, C&O, Clinchfield, & Monon
for BNSF: ATSF, Burlington Northern, CB&Q, Great Northern,
Northern Pacific, Frisco, & SP&S
for CN: Wisconsin Central, Illinois Central, Duluth Missabe &
Iron Range, & Bessemer & Lake Erie.
Chesapeake & Ohio 4-8-4 #614
the Indiana Railroad SD70MACs
ES44ACs in these paint schemes: Iowa Interstate, Norfolk Southern, CSX, & Kansas City Southern
more Indiana Harbor Belt locomotives

Again, these are just ideas i have. I'd like some input as to who can do these (if any of them aren't already being worked on). Any help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing you're maybe newish to Trainz given the low post count. A bit of advice is not to 'bump' your thread after a day. Many of the people who can and often do help will not be logged in during the week so don't be too surprised when you don't get a reply straight away.

As for the thread, are you making requests or are you planning on making your own content?

I look forward to seeing your creations.

Paul Hobbs has some nice tutorials as well.

More requests than my own creation. I don't know how to make my own yet.

I'd like to know if anyone can at least try to make some of these REQUESTS of mine. (instead of ideas, since i'm not making them myself) Plaease let me know if you're going to & which ones.

There are people in the Payware section who will make these for you for a price. Be aware that different payware creators have different quality standards.

For a price? Well I think that some will do it for a price; others MIGHT do it & give me a free one just because I came up with the ideas/suggestions. (I could be wrong;))

I thought so. Is anyone willing to make FREEWARE versions of my ideas/suggestions? (Forget payware, I can't afford it)

Hi railman15: What these kind folk are trying to tell you is that making anything in Trainz is very time consuming ........... making a locomotive is a huge amount of hours. I cannot personally attest to time to create a loco however, to create a relatively small layout/route (say 8mb) with any decent level of detail is around 250hrs work - and that is simply drag 'n' drop plus some texturing. Given the complications of creating an asset from scratch, I am pretty sure that a single loco (unless it can be based around an existing loco) would take significantly more than that. Would you take (e.g.) an a hour a day of your time for a full year in order to create a loco because some stranger on Trainz requested it? Please appreciate what you have, as well as all the work that has gone into all the stuff that you are presumably downloading from DLS.

Regards. Colin.

I don't know why I bothered even putting my ideas & requests here. I come up with something & someone tears it down.

I think he is pointing out that alot of great railroad stuff is not, and probably will not be ever be done or even touched, in Trainz.

All the PRR, Southern, C&0 ...etc...

If I were younger I would learn content creation GMax & Blender ... but I have enough problems physically getting Trainz to run ! So many, many problems with the Trainz program, and too many huge routes under my belt.

Without dreams & ideas ... creation is a failure ... no work gets done ... years later we still won't have any of these locomotives ... don't build it ... and they won't come.

No one is criticizing your requests. The other guys are just being realistic in trying to explain the huge time and effort commitments required in building even just one locomotive for Trainz. It's not as easy as 1, 2, 3 *SNAP*, these are projects that take months, even years to complete. You have some good ideas, but unless you are willing to pay for their creation, you have to live with what you have.

I noticed on your list you've requested some diesels. Frank (SPORBUST) and Justin (norfolksouthern37) are known throughout the forum for making some fantastic diesels for Trainz. Frank has some high-quality ES44ACs, C44-9s, SD70ACEs, and SD70Ms for download on his website, which can be found here:

For a price, Justin produces some of the finest diesel locomotives for Trainz I have ever seen. They feature flashing ditchlights, scripted effects, and incredible detail. Check out his site:

Also, I would suggest looking over at RRMods; they produce extremely high-quality, custom locomotives, both freeware and payware.

Hope this helps.

So for your own use you could repaint or reskin the ES44ACs. If you do a decent job then you maybe allowed to upload them.

It's basically a matter of effort and time that you are asking people to spend making something for you. Many meshes take six months to a year to create. Reskins can be a lot faster. The freeware stuff tends to be a labour of love so you need to find someone who has the same interests as you do. However remember that doing the research takes around 30% or more of the effort so making sure that the research has been done can be helpful sometimes.

I've had a half dozen steam locos made for me by someone who used the prepackaged research that I was able to provide.

I've been to those sites. The content is awesome. I think some of the JointedRail stuff can be bought when I have the money & ability to. As for the reskining, I think I need good quality software for that.

You dont need a high quality program to reskin. Some people use GIMP. Its free, except for the life of me it causes me problems tryin to reskin. I like to use Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. It has most of the same stuff like CS5, but its about $500 cheaper. APE8 is only around $100, except I got my copy for $80 at the local elctronics store. CS5 is really only for computer graphic artists. I used CS4 in computer graphic design class last year, and CS4 is just like APE7. Just very little differences that you wont miss.
