I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!

I have had enough.
I have not been able to download from the dls, I have submitted a ticket about this and now I launched 2009 and ALL the content I have download since I started using 2009 is GONE, also the route I was working on is GONE.
I am very disappointed about this.
I brought 2009 because I had 2006 and I could not download content for 2006 from the dls and also the time for support for 2006 had run out.
I am tired of submitting tickets and placing thread on the forum to solve problems and NOT getting any response
I have paid for a FCT and , I can't downlaod anything
PLEASE I would like to know why I have lost all the content I have downloaded and also how to fix the problem so I can download from the dLS

Hello
Can you give us a bit more detail, I know it can be frustrating at times but Trainz does not just delete all your content, it must be there somewhere.
Where have you installed Trainz, have you just added an update patch, have you had a major crash recently, have you checked the favorites only option, what OS are you using, are you the administrator?
As for the FCT, if you check in the DLS/FCT section of the forum I'm sure you will find your answer in there as this is a common complaint. :D

There are a number of threads on the forum relating to your matter, I suggest you carefully read through the following on how to back up your data.

Has your FCT been activated ?? If you have not done so, you will need to activate your FCT by logging into your Planet Auran user account and selecting "Download Tickets" below "Trainz" in the left hand column of your user profile page.

YES my FCT has been activated
No I have had no crashes of any kind
I use Internet explorer
I have changed from build 40040 to 41844 v3.1 about 3 weeks ago

When Deano asked for your OS he meant which of Windows XP, Vista or 7 do you have on your computer and if you are using Vista or 7 are you logged on as the system administrator? It has been a while since I used Trainz 2009 but I presume that the v3.1 refers to the CMP version.

Have you been attempting to download from the DLS by CMP or the DLS Web site using FTP and then importing the CDP files into Trainz?

Also, make sure that CMP is allowed through your Internet security firewall or else it can't connect with the Auran servers.

Cheers,
Joshua

Are you logged into Windows 7 as the system administrator or do you start Trainz 2009 using the Run as Administrator option? Both make a big difference to Win 7s annoying permission levels that let you perform tasks that are blocked from non-Administrator users.

Have you tried downloading a suitable 2009 asset from the DLS using FTP and IE, saving the asset (as a .cdp file) to a known location then importing the .cdp file into Trainz using Content Manager - this would help narrow down the cause of your problem.

Can I check something?

When you load Trainz, do you have to click Yes in order for it to appear?

If not, then you will need to run it as administrator (I have details for how to do this on my tutorial website, which you can reach using the link in my signature)

I can then give you instructions on how to recover the content that was created before this point.

I am running as administrator

OK - reason I'm checking is due to the assumption some users make with Windows Vista/7.

The assumption is that because it's an administrator account/only account on system, that they have administrative privileges - in Windows Vista/7, this is not automatically the case.

Programs have to be manually set up to run as administrator (the way of checking this is to look for the Yes/No box when launching Trainz)

It may well be that Windows has stored your content in a different folder.

This folder can be found in %APPDATA%/Local/VirtualStore.

What you will then see is a special version of your hard drive, but it only shows files that were created with standard user privileges.

i have never known this to be the case with trainz on a few systems i have owned with vista and windows 7. i have never had to 'run as admin' except for when i was using TRS2006 on those systems, which was understandable because it was an older program. there should not be any special settings to apply to TS2009 and up, and i think trying to tell people they all need to do that is careless. that being said, that could be the problem on SOME systems if configured that way, i just dont think it worth telling everyone it should be done.

Only users with sufficient know-how of how Windows Vista/7 works will be able to run Trainz without using run as admin - this is due to the fact that the standard Windows admin account is locked down in Vista/7, unless the super-administrator is used.

Shane

this is not true, thats precisely what i am saying here, that is misinformation. trainz works as it should without any alteration of the admin settings or running as admin, UNLESS something has been purposely changed either by the user or the manufaturer of the machine.

It's usually the latter.

It also depends on which version of Windows Vista/7 it is.

Suprisingly, you are the first user who has questioned it - even other veterans of the forum state that Trainz should be run as administrator.

Never had problems with permissions myself but perhaps it's because the machine is home-built.
Is it worth checking that the missing content is present in Content Manager but not showing up in Surveyer?
Don't you sometimes wish they could pass the machine over to be checked out :)
