Nothing can leaven government programs with realism like an election. I suspect the fact that the "private investors" who were supposed to make a gift of their money backing this thing ran for their economic lives had something to do with it as well. As a resident of California I am heartened that something practical is finally being considered. There have been hints this sort of thing was coming in the local press since early this year.

What a surprise, you know that commission is hoarding some of the money given to them for what the people wanted and we'll find out about it in a decade or so.
I think that is abominable. The decison is made and they want to play silly clowns with the money allotted. Scandalous. Here we have had 3 extensions out of 4 done so far and nationally plans for the long distance West Coast will be going ahead. Maybe we should give our decision makers a holiday to California and give you a break?!
