Hump Yards Revisited - Help!

I would like to incorporate a working hump yard into my layout. By working I mean where the cars will automatically decouple as they pass the tower and can be programmed to divert into a particular siding.

I am using TS20009 and have downloaded "Matlin Hump Yard", "Matlin Hump Yard Revised" and "UM E-W Hump Yard". On each of these routes I click with the Object (?) on the Yard Tower or the Hump Tower and get a blank window instead of a window in which to do programming.

From previous posts I understand that these routes have problems working in TS09 but that there are replacements which make them workable.

Can anyone tell me specifically, by kuid number, what objects (such as Yard Tower or Hump Tower) I need to replace in order to automate one or the other of the above routes?

Alternatively, can anyone tell me of a working hump yard that definitely works in TS09?

Thanks in advance; will really appreciate your help.

Hi FloridaGuy - I have just tried to get the humptower to work in 2010 and have the same problem. It does work in 2004 but the sorting method seems to require a user to manually assign destinations to the vehicles in Driver mode, can't set up a session in surveyor.

I have heard of an asset called "Uncouple at Trackmark" but have not been able to locate it on DLS in any of the sections.

I have a rule (not uploaded yet) which checks the running number of a vehicle as it crosses a trackmark or trigger, and can start a child rule such as "Switch Junctions" to sort a whole train. It just needs the uncouple asset to make it practical.

The "Check Running Number" rule is a child of another rule of mine based on "Check Trackside" rule. You can allocate ranges of running numbers to several CRN rules so vehicles in different ranges are sent to different sidings.

If I can't find the uncouple asset I might have to write it myself. Does anyonw have the kuid of "Uncouple at Trackmark"?

Thanks - Trevor

The Matlin Hump yard is mine. I haven't tried it in 2009 yet, but when I get a chance, I'll give it a try.

hey, i had the same problem before, i did read somewhere were you have to use another hump tower to be programmable in 04 and up. this is the tower i use in 2009, its made by LLJ, the kuid is <kuid2:30671:23302:1>. unsure if you've used the hump tower before, but it works great. it decouples cars 1 at a time, automatically sorts them (although i don't think it'll sort specific cars to specific tracks). the drawback is that you have to go in and program it each time, so if you have a massive hump yard, it'll take you a while. anyway, i hope that helps you out. but i highly recommend it

Thanks - going off to download it right away.

I couldn't find that kuid on either the DLS or TPR Downloads. It sure sounds like what I need. Any idea how/where to get it?

@Leigh - Thanks very much, have d/l'ed the uncouple rule. I was separating the words with spaces.

Hi Guy from Florida - The humptower I tried was the one from TPR under Humpyard kit. That is kuid2:30671:2, and it doesn't work in 2010. Neither the programming nor the decoupling works.

In CMP3.3 there is an obsolete version :1 listed on the DLS. In order to assess it, I deleted the :2 version and then was able to use version 1 in my test route. The control box looks like a gift-wrapped present in the old version, and like a metal control box in the later one.

I tried the program and the uncoupling and they both worked. You don't need to program it in order to use the uncoupling feature.

@aodgh0st: Leigh tells me that the retarders didn't work on his game. Do they work for you?

Cheers - Trevor

they work for me, although the way i had them configured crashed the game i beleive. would work for about 15 minutes of humping, then would crash. but yes, they do stop the cars. but honestly i undid all the patches, as the original 2009 worked better than adding the patches for me.

hey, i just looked in my CDP saved file (i save every file i download), and i have the humpyard kit. i don't mind sending it, just is that acceptable seeing as i did not make this? if it is, just pm me your email addy and i'll send it as an attachment. (for those who can't find it)

sniper297,

Did you program the retarder in the hump yard tower's session layer interface, or are you showing the default behavior of the retarder?

I'm not able to get the retarders to show in the Add list of hump yard tower's programming interface in TS2010.

I'm working with the "Matlin Hump Yard revised" route in TS2010; in an attempt to learn how the hump kit works before redoing the Cumberland Hump Yard in jrfolco's excellent WM & B&O Mega Route.

The Speed Retarder2 items do not appear to work in the hump yard tower programming, but the Speed Retarder items (the ones that were done for the first version of the humpyard) do seem to work as documented.
