And kinda bummed that you won't be extending to Croton. Someone on NYCT Forums did a layout of the electrified portion of the Hudson Line (GCT to Croton-Harmon).
Just checked the location of Manitou, NY. Is that really as far north as you're stretching? Because there's a lot of beautiful scenery between there and Poughkeepsie. I'd hate to lose out on that.
Myself? I'm not patient enough to model huge layouts, especially since TS12 can't seem to handle my system.

I took train 69 north again this past weekend and while I was waiting for my train in Rhinecliff I thought I'd give the camera on my new cell phone a try. Here's two photos from a very very very cold and windy Rhinecliff.
Just thought I'd share, I appologize to anyone who feels these are uninteresting/unrelated.

That is interesting. I like train action along the Hudson river since you have nice scenery such as the hills, trees, water, and the River line. There is always train action along the Hudson. Freight action along the West of the Hudson River, and Freight and Passenger action along the East of the Hudson River.
Nice pics Jesse! Thanks for sharing them. My wife and I are planning a trip to the Hudson sometime in May. It will be fun seeing what I've been modelling from afar.

I was playing in a 10 piece soul band from St. Louis at a bar in Peekskill. I was only there at night, so I didn't really see anything. I have, however, accumulated a very large collection of videos and pictures of the area. That's how I've been doing this. It will be great fun to see how close my model is to the real thing.
In the course of creating this layout I've learned a lot about the history of railroads like the New York Central, Conrail, CSX, Metro-North, and Amtrak. That's why I love this hobby...the things I can learn...and the things I can learn to create.

If I haven't complimented the textures already, I just want to say that it looks very realistic. I haven't been along the Hudson myself, but the rock faces there can't look too far off from the ones we have here in Western Connecticut. And yours are spot-on. It's almost like looking at a series of photographs.
