Stunning as usual! I see you have labelled your signal there, is there anyway of finding out the locations and signal numbers on any line? I'm working on the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad in Ohio/Pennsylvania and as you can see I am from England UK :D

Great shots and great route!! :)

Thanks,
George

I've used photos, videos, and track charts. That one I had to fudge a little. The photo I have of it was made with a telephoto lens so the geographical position may be off slightly. I knew where MP 41 was...so I got in a loco that had an odometer and stopped it when it reached a mile from the starting spot. :)

Fred

So are they usually a mile apart? You've sure done your research!! :D

The signals aren't always a mile apart but that particular one is at MP 40. CSX installed another signal at MP 41 just a few years ago. I have pics and video taken when it was being installed. :)

Ahh I see, so can you give me any pointers on how I should go about finding this info for my route? :) I want to be as accurate as I can!

Thanks

George

Well...search the internet for free stuff. Sometimes you get a bit of luck. If you're really serious about your research materials it will cost you I'm afraid. I would make a rough estimate that over the last 4 years I've spent over $1000 US on books and videos for this project. It's still cheaper than an HO layout though...not to mention trying to fit an HO scale layout of the Hudson River in your basement. :D

Fred

Hi Zorronov,

I'm following the progress of your route on the Forum and I consider it a very good one.
Do you have a forecast for the presetation of the route?

Thanks...I'm hoping to finish by the end of the year. Once I've finished modelling Iona Island, things should speed up considerably. I'm working on some buildings for the old armory at the moment.

Cheers,
Fred

Thanks Jim! It's time for me to finish those buildings for Iona Island and then it's Bear Mountain Bridge or bust! :D

Cheers,
Fred

Spare time? Hmmmmm...if you consider that I started on it 4 years ago...no...not a lot of spare time there. Payware? All of the content in this route is free...plus I have reskinned a number of steamers and diesel locos to use on this layout. They have been released as freeware as well. The screenshots with payware posted above are just me playing with my toys. Anyway...I'm not doing this for you...I'm doing it for me. It's how I play Trainz. :)

Cheers,
Fred

Very nice on this. Man 4 years. :) I hope I can do the whole metro North railroad in that time. Take as long as you need to. My Metro North project is keeping me preoccupied as we speak.:)
