HST problem - throttle flashing yellow (Trainz 12)

I'm quite new to the game having only bought it today. I was using the HST 125 on the ECML route, i was just messing around having placed it on the route in surveyor, then i drove the train from the tyne marshalling yard to chester le street which went fine, but when i went to pull away from chester le street the throttle number on the readout in the top right kept flashing yellow and green when i went above throttle 20, and the train was making extreme effort just to reach 20mph which it could not surpass even under full throttle.

I am using cab mode not DCC.

Any idea? It had been working fine a minute before that and i had not changed anything.

Apologies if i am not using the right terminology, i'm very new to trains and railways.

How slowly should throttle be applied? I set it to a very low throttle and it still wouldnt pull away, and made a horrible screetching sound.

I will retry and see if the problem is what you described.

Try pressing V on the keyboard, it applies sand to the rails for traction and then slowly applying the throttle.

Applied sanding and it worked. Hadn't known about that. When the mountain symbol appears beside the throttle readout i take it that indicates it is a steep incline?

Anyway i tried the sanding and it worked. I do have another problem though which is at low spped, say sub 10mph, all trains make a horrible loud rattling sound which is louder than the engine. What could this be?

The 'mountain symbol' is actually a pile of sand and indicates that the sander is on. :)

Any chance of a video of the sound? It could be a track sound or a sound from a nearby building. My bet is on track sound if it is under a certain speed and is rattling.

I recommend getting the free trial version of FRAPS, and just recording 30 seconds of footage (or less) with it. I can message you my e-mail address if you want to send the video to me. And if you want others to see it as well, I can upload it privately on my YouTube account and provide a link to it.

Ok, haven't been able to get a good recording tonight but i will try tomorrow. It isn't urgent. Thanks for the help everyone, especially captainkman :)

That is a track sound, and if it's included in one track on the route, the rest of the rotue is affected. I'm not sure of any way to disable it, but I hate it.

Ah, ok. It's the standard ECML route that came with the game. Thanks for your help again.
You're wlecome.

I think the only way to remove it is to edit the track that is causing the sound, which is not recommended as editing built-in items displays all the hidden errors. Maybe someone else knows how to stop the sound?

Is it a screechy wheelslip sound, or how does it sound? I can't use youtube, sorry. Is it like a rumble, a screech, a clang, etc.?

It's MEANT to simulate the wheels and rails 'popping' as you move off from a standstill, but it really is too obtrusive.
