How to ID the KUID for missing TRACK/Rail in a route

I am just a user and not a developer of Trainz for a number of years. My route modification skills are limited to adding another driver, consists from the Edit route/session function, etc.

Often missing KUIDs must be downloaded and I am wondering if I can tell which KUID is needed for the "white lines" on a route?
If I need missing track, I would like to at least see the route without the white lines sooner rather than later. (just me) while hunt for other missing kuids.

Is there a way or series of keystrokes I can use to ID the KUID of the white line segment/asset??

Thanks in advance!

How it should work in Surveyor 1 "Get track" key G
then you can use Bulk Asset Replace to exchange the missing spline (dual white dashed)
for a track of your choosing.
For me this works perfect in TRS19 build 100240 where I do all my route work.

In the new TRS22 or Plus there is Surveyor 2, it has an Eyedropper tool
it should tell you which kuid.
Alas in newer versions of trainz I never managed to replace an unknown track
for 1 of my choosing.
Brought it up many time in beta testing but they choose to ignore me.
greetings GM.

Fixing White Splines...

I got this a while back from James Moody.

The following information comes via the lead developer for N3V Games. I had to use this last night and I know it works.

The dashed white lines isn't "a missing asset" - it's the asset that Trainz turns to when it can't find the asset it is supposed to draw there. These white lines are, in themselves, an asset. You can find this asset in CM. It's called "Missing spline", and it's by Rob. Open it for edit. Change the KUID from <kuid:523:1124> to <kuid2:523:1124:1>, and remove the whole privileges container (containing the line "permit-listing 0") Then install that asset as if it were a new asset - e.g. drag the folder from windows explorer back onto the CM interface. Once it's installed, revert the original one (you can't commit changes to it as it's a built-in asset). Result: The dashed white lines now show up in the menu, and can be selected just like any other track spline. You could lay some down if you wanted. More to the point, you can now use the 'replace items' tool to change them to any track spline you have installed...

I will add this. When you install the folder, use the install content option. This will save so much time. Also don't panic when the creator is shown as AURAN.

Notes:

<kuid2:523:1124:1> ==== Update from <kuid2:523:1124:2> to <kuid2:523:1124:3> for T:ANE. All other procedures apply.

Need to change .texture file using PEV's Images2TGA.

TY John for workaround 6701 and 6702. Think I did that 8 year ago in TRS19 100240 that's why its my fav lol.
It would be so handy if it was standard in Trainz that you can exchange any unknown for an item you have.
TRS2028 ++ DLX?

That would be nice, wouldn't it!

N3V did say they were looking into doing something with missing kuids but went on to say it's way down the priority list.

I would say we'll see something like that in TRS2035. :)
