hi, i was in the surveyor and i tried out the route i was making. is there a way to get trains on other tracks to drive on their own whilst i'm driving my train?

thx ;)

Which version of Trainz are you using? If it TRS2004 or newer, it is possible using driver commands, in UTC or earlier, from what I remember, Ctrl and A caused the train to run on it's own but it may have trouble stopping at stations/industries.

In TRS2004 or newer, you need to use the Edit Session option in the Surveyor menu (when you are in surveyor), click Driver Setup, then click Edit. The screen that appears will allow you to assign the driver commands by clicking the little green arrow that appears under each driver/train (you may need to check which train is which first using the ? option that appears on the same tab as the one used to insert trains (check the frontmost locomotive)

Once the required driver commands are inserted (use Drive To to send a train to an industry/station, Drive to Trackmark to drive to a trackmark (the red arrows), and Load/Unload do as they say on the tin (they load/unload passengers/freight), click the OK option (usually a green tick) twice. Make sure you only do this for the trains you want controlled by the computer otherwise you will not be able to drive any of the trains)

If you require any further information, please let us know.

thx for the help ;)

EDIT: do you also know how to change junctions, with the green and red arrow, because my train doesnt go where i want it to go. if i approach a junction it goes left instead of right, is there a way to swap the arrows around?

thx

If you're driving it should go where the green arrow is pointing.

If the AI is driving (i.e. you're using Driver commands) then the AI will change junction directions to get to the next destination but not always very intelligently.

TRS2004 scenarios can be designed to either change the junctions for you or get you to do it.

If you are driving the train in question manually, press J on the keyboard to switch the next junction (this should apply to any version of Trainz) - if you have On Screen Help turned on (this is indicated by a orange icon with a question mark on it) it will indicate which way the train will go.

If the train is in autopilot (UTC and before) you may need to find the train, then use the j key. In TRS2004 and above, this should happen automatically unless the train in question is using 'Drive' not one of the 'Drive To' commands.

EDIT: Someone else managed to beat me there... The information about the J key still applies though.

another question :p

you know the pylon tubes that are at the side of a track, y'know for a high speed train network, what are the wires called that the pantograph connects to? i cant find it in surveyor?

Here's how it works in TRS2004 but other versions might be slightly different. In Surveyor, load your route, then open the Objects tab, click on the Spline Mode button, then search for catenary. Then place the catenary of your choice in the same way as you do tracks, roads and lines of trees, etc.
