How to divide ?

Hi,

I just want any help about layouts.
I made a big map and want to divide it in 3 or 4 "mini"-maps.

But i don't know how to do it...
Have you any ideas ?

Thanks.

The only way is to delete base boards. First open the full layout Then save it as a different name (say part 1). Now delete all the base boards that you dont want part 1 and 2 to have, so all you have left is the section you need to create part 1 and 2. Save this and then reopen and save as part 2. (you now have two routes, part 1 and 2 which at this stage are the same) Again delete all baseboards you dont need in part 2 and save. Part 2 is now done. Open part 1 and delete all part 2 baseboards and save. You will have to do this all over again for part 3 and 4. Open full layout and save as part 3. This time delete all the boards you used in part 1 and 2 and save. Reopen and save as part 4, now repeat the above.

Thanks Stagecoach. ;)

But, the map is about 200 baseboards !!
And i also must to delete all the objects before to delete baseboards ! It's an enormous work !

I wondered if there was another technique.

My experience is that deleting baseboards also deletes the objects on the baseboard. I won't say there isn't another way, but stagecoach's method is the one that came to my mind.

200 baseboards is big, but not gigantic. Are you wanting to make these mini maps and then re-merge them into one big map again? If so, my advice would be to keep plugging on your one large map.

I would recommend deleting objects before deleting boards but DEFFINITELY delete all splines first. Objects can be deleted quickly by pasting a blank area over the board to be deleted, but splines must be deleted by hand. Also save OFTEN while deleting - you are making huge changes to the gnd and obs files...

200 baseboards is tiny! I considered doing that for my route and still might...and I have in the range of 10000! so yeah..You are looking at maybe a half hour of work to delete that many boards

Not with TRS 2007 and previous versions. When you delete a baseboard, the objects stay. You should delete them too.
I actually have TS 2010 and not tested that so perhaps it had changed.

I know that 200 baseboards is not big BUT when you must delete all objects one by one, it's a long and boring work !
I don't want to re-merge them. I just want to share only finished area on my map.

I find that if you delete objects from a distance you can delete them quicker. It is like your mouse selection area is way bigger when you click on objects that are a few baseboards away.
