How to create trainz

I have trainz 2006 and I am a big amusement park steam train fan. Disney, Kings Island, Cedar Point, Bucsh Gardens, Six Flags, etc. My favorite train is the general and that's what most amusement park trains are modeled off of. How can I make my own trains to look like these from Kings Island?

Hi barnett300,

Welcome to the forums.

Firstly, I need to warn you that building a locomotive in Trainz can be very difficult, especially if you haven't done 3D modelling before.

I am willing to do all the work for it. I think it will all be worth it in the end. Is there a tutorial for it?

Try these:

I recommend starting with simpler objects, like houses, post lamps, then maybe a car. You'll find that making the textures will probably be trickier than the actual 3D modelling. It really didn't take me long to learn Blender (save for figuring out why models wouldn't export - there's a small "gotcha" you have to know about, mentioned in the link) but there is often more than one way to do things in 3D modelling and getting a little comfortable first before tackling something like locomotives and rolling stock is a good idea.

Creating a loco from scratch would be ridiculous for a new comer to Trainz ... Repainting it would be a huge challenge for you ... there are several locos of your likings on the DLS and on 3rd Party sites ... I would suggest running the "as is" locos and cars for the time being, and repaint clones of them later ... concentrate on trackwork, and baseboard terrain first.
