How to change horns in 2019

There sure is and you can do this to any content except built-ins and DLC from N3V.

Using Content Manager:

Search for Horn sounds or horns.

There's a gazillion of them on the DLS as well as built-in. Be warned: some are better than others.

If you find one you like, jot down the KUID number, or right-click and choose view asset in a new window, which will give you the KUID number in a small window that you can copy.

Now find the locomotive you want to modify.

You can clone the asset first if you want, but you do this to the original. If you need help cloning, we can help you in another post.

Right-click on your locomotive.
Choose Open... the Edit Config.txt

Notepad will open up with a bunch of text in it.

Look for the hornsound tag (line) that looks like this:

hornsound <big space here> <kuid2:124863:12345:1>

<kuid2:124863:12345:1> <===== This is that KUID that needs to be changed as mentioned above. (I made this one up)

Replace it and ensure the numbers are correct.

Scroll to the bottom of the config.txt to the kuid-table.

Replace the same <kuid2:124863:12345:1> with the new one. (You have to do this in both places).

Save and close the config.txt file.

Right-click on the asset and choose Submit to submit the asset to the database.

Barring any errors, things should be all set. If you have any problems, check your work for a typo.

Thanks JCitron

unfortunately, some of the things gives me a unauthorized to edit error

This is due to these locomotives being built-in or DLC assets. The only thing you can do now if you've opened them up for editing is to right-click and choose Revert to Original.
