How drivers are added in session?

I've read the TR2006 manual and running TR2009. I'm learning about trackmarks by running the Branch Freight Active. I went to Driver setup and see 6 drivers in the setup. When I go to driver and watch how the trains follow the commands, all of a sudden a new driver "Eric" shows up. Where is it written to have new drivers show up if they're not in the Surveyor Driver setup?

new drivers usually only show up if they are set up to come out of a portal of some sort. i dont think its written in the manual any were though.

That driver (and others) definitely are being created by portals. (If you follow the track all the way to the south you'll see it goes into a tunnel. The portal is there. One track will be set to produce trains, one will be set to consume trains.

I'm a programmer and I'd like to see where that is written. Is it in rules, setup options, script?

To check the portal config you first have to find the portal and then use the ? tool from the scenery object panel and click on the portal. (You can use the get tool to see if what you're actually trying to click is the portal.) It may take a few tries to find the right spot to click to get the portal instead of track or parts of the tunnel.

With the view oriented so that you are looking into the tunnel from the track, the one that produces trains (at least on this route) should be on the right. Remember that to actually see the configured portal you need to edit the session and not the route, but you'll need to change to the route layer after loading. (The active layer needs to be the same as the layer the portal is on for you to be able to configure it.)
