How do you run trainz in one portal but make it come out another ?

Open the portal properties window

Tick Consume Trains

Tick Train returns after 5 real minutes (change to whatever value you want)

Tick Train returns through alternate portal 'none'

Click on the 'none' and type in the correct name of the other portal that will be used to return the train.

Hope this helps

Hello, I've got a couple of questions about surveyor as well. One of my greatest concerns, and frustrations, is the lack of INTERACTIVE stations in the game, Yes, I know the DLS has alot, but until I get a long shopping list of things to download, I don't want to activate my ticket as the timer will start counting down immediately. Is there any way to make these uninteractive platforms, be they objectes or splines, interactive? A little like Rail Simulator, where you can change a section of track into "station".

Thanks in advance.

Turning non-interactive platforms, stations, industries, etc into interactive objects is how most (??) route developers work.

There are interactive track sections, with no buildings or other structures, that are placed alongside non-interactive screen objects to turn them into fully working stations/platforms and industries.

For stations I use the AJS invisible platform objects (single and multi-platform stations are available on the the DLS - search for the title "AJS invisible") - these are fully configurable - with features such as platform numbering and height, number of starting passengers, new passengers per hour, etc. They have a very short section of visible track that you connect with your normal track. In Surveyor they show a pale white shape that represents the area where the passengers will appear and where you must place a platform object or spline plus any other buildings and accessories that you need. In driver only the objects you have added will be visible.

For industries I mostly use the "Multiple Industry Basic" and "Multiple Industry New" objects that came installed with the game. I sometimes use 3rd party objects such as LLJ's "Basic Industry 2" (search for the title "BI2") but there are many others. These have a visible section of track and nothing else so you can turn any non-interactive object into a factory that supplies/consumes materials.

Hope this helps.

and there is another way too, build your own! Then you're not limited to what others have made and placed on the DLS. OK, so you have to be comfortable with GMax but I think the rewards are worth the effort. :)

The invisible platforms work great. But the drawback is that the platform length is FIXED, so I can't use it as a mid-sized station with a longer platform. Gotta make do with this for now until I pick up some content creation skills, I guess.

Thanks alot!

. . . I don't want to activate my ticket as the timer will start counting down immediately. . . .

Thanks in advance.

Nicky, why wait to use your ticket? You can download without your ticket. You just can't download more than a certain amount per day or week. I used my ticket up months ago, got most of what I wanted and now just download a few special items as I need them.

For one, I don't own a paypal account or credit card, and I'm just 14, so it means I have to get my parent's permission for most of the stuff I buy online. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Your parents are right to be concerned, but here is something that you might try in your negotiation with your parents. Negotiate how much you will be able to spend on TRS assets, and use that amount of your allowance / earnings to purchase a prepaid MC or Visa. These can be purchased at a number of vendors. If your parents will not agree to this, then ask if you can have them give you part of your allowance (or use part of your earnings to reimburse them) in the form of purchases on one of their credit cards. Either way, your parents have a sense of what your are spending, and what you are spending it on.

But as rweber95 pointed out, you don't need a download ticket to download, and in fact, if you have a dial-up connection, there is little value to you to purchase one. Make a list of your "gotta haves", and start downloading them with the connection you have.

Good luck.

INTERACTIVE STATIONS

Must add my response to your qiestion regarding the application of the activatedtracks that can be used to transfer passemgers.

Your statement that the lengths of track are too short, prompts me to sugest that you might to try putting 2 or 3 or 4 of the sections of track together to match the length of your platform. You can then name them as sections A, B, C etc of the same platform; ie, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D. It should work
