How do I preset a speed.

I have a shed area where the speed within the limits is 15mph. However I have noticed that if a loco starts off within that area its initial speed is set to 40 not 15. How do I preset any loco that is starting within the speed zone to have that speed preset?

Thanks
Antony

Use trackside asset speedboards, and also invisible speedboards.

Anything slower than 10mph, and 8kph, results in AI jumping and slowing at every spline point.

I like 10mph as it is very smooth.

Anything slower is like watching the grass grow, or like watching molassas slide downhill on a cold winters day.

There are thousands of speedboards, all n
amed weirdly, all widely spaced out all over creation on the DLS (QR, CSX ... etc ...)

As a general rule a consist will act on a slower speedboard as the loco passes ... and will react to a higher numeral speedboard after the last car in the consist passes.

Thanks guys - just what I wanted

Mm - just tried to download the configurable speedboards and they come up red in cm - message tells me it cant find path to asset :(

If you are modeling the UK you might want a metric (kph) speedboard (there are many hundereds, all spread out all over the DLS, by many confusing different names.

Describe what type/style of speedboard that you want, and I may be able to find it for you.

But the invisble ones by Biddle are really great !

He also made 05
mph Invisible, 15, 20 ... etc

QR Speed RHS 10k <KUID2:46415:23015:2>
(also available in LHS versions, in various speeds)

Thanks cascaderailroad. Despite CM complaining about not being able to find what I wanted - it was on the black pages on the dls so I eventually got that and some of the speedboards you mentioned from there. A couple of questions though. You said if I was looking for the UK I might want to use KPH rather than MPH. Have our railways transferred over unlike our roads? Second - on the configurable invisible speedboards am I supposed to be able to change from single track to something else? If so its not clickable to change

I have no expertise with configurable speedboards ... but if you hop on Skype IM, I will be able to direct you, with what you want.

The reason I use invisible speedboards by Biddle, is because I need not see a barrage of different visible speedboards, when invisible ones are available.

I was using CSX Speedboards, but my trainz were clipping the signs, and some signs were in the gauge, and fouling turnouts ... invisible speedboards solve that problem greatly !

Some of the 5 kph, 7 kph, 8 kph, and 10 kph metric speedboards, achive a slower speed, than a 10mph Imperial speedboards.

I adjusted my speedboards so that they are visible (for easier movement around in surveyor), by eliminating the surveyor-only config file tag (I can always put the tag back i again to make them invisible).

Are you on skype at the moment? Its 9:20 pm here in the UK

Funnily enough as I just posted this up (having had a break for a half hour) I can now access the other items available. Im guessing it was just a glitch and just needed the game restarting.
