How Can I Back-up a Route?

I have taken some typical routes (Mojave Subdivision and a few others) and have made changes to them. How can I back these up (for example, onto a CD or flash-drive) in case my computer crashes? I am not even sure where to find them on my hard drive. What would the file names be?

Thank you
Dean

Your maybe as well of backing up the whole of your 2012. External hard drive is probably best.

If you would just like to save your versions of the routes, you can package them as CDP's and then transfer them to another drive, either internal or external. That may be the easiest way.

CDPs is probably what I am looking for. How do I do that? I often see routes that are downloadable. How do I create files of my routes just like the files I see avaiable on websites?

When you activate the Trainz 12 icon, choose "manage content" on the opening screen. When it opens, use CM to search for the routes that you made, right click on it and choose "save to CDP".

FYI, if you changed any sessions too - and you probably did - then you can add those to the same CDP. Just hold CTRL and multi-select like you can in most Windows programs. Sometimes it's good to also back up any content that you didn't get from the DLS or is built-in to save you the trouble of finding it again should you need it.

Just wondering, Is there a way to find downloads in the local folder that didn't come from the download station?

Rob

There's no way to actually tell what you have which came from the DLS and what didn't. However, you can set a filter for Locally Modified = True. I believe (and just spot-checked) that anything not downloaded through CMP will show as Locally Modified, including anything opened using the Import functions in CMP. Keep in mind anything you modify, fix or create yourself will probably show as Locally Modified as well.

I wanna save my Route on a cd?

Will this work on a blank cd? I wanna save a route, the rolling stock & the locos.
