Hi, Question, is the Mac App Download game able to download new routes and trains

Ive played this game back when I had a PC and I played both the 2004 & 2006 versions of TRAINZ mostly to get more routes and try out new engines that I can download and I had a blast until that computer crashed and now I got a Mac Desktop and Im just downloading the game from the App store but I wan't to know if this version will accept downloadable content because with it I might get bored with the stuff thats only included in the game. Please tell me that I can download new locomotives and scenery and more without having anything not showing up (I sort of had that problem when I played Trainz 2006). :o
 
Welcome to the forums.

The Mac version does have the ability to download content, but there are limitations. Anything that requires TS12 built-in content will not function, and the method of downloading is slightly different in Trainz Mac.

Can you explain. Also Want about for download older engines and route content like the ones that were made for versions 2004 & 2006. Can I download content from those version onto my mac version.
 
Which bit would you like me to explain (just so I know)? Regarding older content, Trainz Mac may flag some of that content as faulty as things have changed quite a bit in terms of what is acceptable in terms of content design/configuration and what is not.

Well how can I download Freeware Content and how can I download stuff from the Download Station (I had problems in the past where I could never download anything from the DLS for both 2004 & 2006) for errors to even to this day I can't figure out what I was doing wrong that was making the stuff I wanted not show up.
 
Regarding the Download Station, see my sticky thread in the DLS,FCT forum. If you cannot see it, you will need to register your Trainz serial numbers - click Planet Auran above, then Serial Number, then fill in the form.

If the content is not appearing in-game, this may be due to content faults - as I'm not a Mac user, I can only provide limited assistance on that bit. From what I understand, it's usually either that the content has not been committed, or it has errors, which is probably a case of using Control-click followed by a click on View Errors and Warnings (or equivalent).

I see. Well the game is still downloading so I can't access it yet but are you sure that once I enter my Trainz Serial Number, will I be able to download stuff now easily because back when I had the 2004 version, I entered in my serial number and it still would not let me download anything off of there and I pretty fed up with this and I could not double cheek to see if the serial number was entered in wrongly or not. I hope I won't have this problem here too as well.
 
One note regarding the Mac version though. If you have bought it through the Mac App Store, you only need to enter your username and password details into the Trainz Options box (Launcher > Options) to register it with N3V.

Yes I did purchased it from the App store, so once its finished downloading, all I need to do is typing in my password and username, just to get into and download stuff from the Download Station correct? :)
 
If it does not, you may need assistance from N3V's helpdesk, which will involve a couple of days wait as they do not work weekends.

I see. Also when I enter in my password and username, I enter in the Apple ID one and not the one from this site right?
 
I see, hopefully it will be my Apple ID. Just one more question. Does this mac version include all the content that was built into the pervious versions of Trainz up to this point? I remember that the 2006 version had alot of Canadian Railroad equipment and rolling stock that I like that was included in that version) will that stuff be built into the Mac version once I play it for the first time?
 
No - it's between TRS2006 and TS2009. The one before 2004 was Ultimate Trainz Collection, which was preceded by Trainz 1.0 (which became Trainz 1.3 after three service packs).

You can download anything that is for TS2010 or earlier. I cannot guarantee with TS12 content though as it may require built-in content that you do not have.
