Attempted to apply this tut but unsuccessful.

How do I edit config.txt to correct errors

before update and after show no faults.

I don't have a clue how to help, but where did you get those bridge splines? They're pretty nice.

Maybe a suggestion... Do a QDR?

AH..I still need help repairing older splines.
any ideas.
It looks like the trz12 is reading the END's im file but not the center's im file.

It would be helpful to see the config.txt file information.

N.b. It's clearer to read on the forum if you wrap it in code tags - "Go Advanced" and then select the "#" button.

I have several 2.4 bridges that have the same errors?

Have you ever repaired a spline with this problem?
Really! You never updated a simuler spline. You see if you had,then
we would not be having this waste of time

I would gladly wrap a code tag if I knew what one was.

First thing, I understand and sympathize with the frustration, but getting mad at people who are trying to help because you don't understand what they're asking isn't going to help you. He's talking about this;

Click on that then paste the config.txt between the "code with brackets" tags, you get this;

Code:

Other item is a list with KUID numbers like this;

Wood Pony Truss std,<kuid:63290:38005>

You can get that with the "copy to clipboard" in content manager.

Big question for that one, why do you want to update it? It's a build 1.3 but it's part of that process where they uploaded TS2010 built in assets that were not built into TS12, I just tried that one and it downloads error free and works fine in game as is. If you're intending to clone and reskin it then you would have to update to 2.9, but if you just want to use it in a route there's no need to update that one.

An aside here to the experts, this is an old complaint that has never been addressed to my satisfaction.

Warning: Required tag 'trackdirections' was missing and has been set to default.
Warning: Required tag 'width' was missing and has been set to default.

Will comply if possible, where is it? Open Content Creator Plus and right click anywhere, I get a smorgasbord of options from alias to visible on minimap, but if there's a function to add the width or trackdirections tags it's VERY well hidden, I sure as hell can't find those in any menu. Either document this crap or provide examples.

Anyway even with the complaint about the missing "required tags" (which are apparently not really required since none of the built in bridges have these allegedly "required" tags) the 2.9 update still works, you just need to strip out the obsolete stuff and add a mesh table.

Code:
kuid                                    <kuid:522774:100280>
username "xp Wood Pony Truss std"

Again, no offense, but you're not communicating the problem. The ends of WHAT have abutments, are they supposed to have them? Are you saying they have them and are not supposed to, or have them before updating and not after, and which asset are you talking about?

Wood Pony Truss std,<kuid:63290:38005>

I cloned and updated that to 2.9 in content creator, post #8 shows the config.txt I got as a result, here's the clone in TS12;

32314631.jpg

Which has the abutments because they're specified in the config.txt using the new spline format.

Again too many unanswered questions, is there a bridge that you're downloading which doesn't work without needing repair? Or are you trying to clone and update an old bridge for repainting and uploading? Spell out what you want to do and post the names and KUID numbers, if you don't want people wasting time then don't make us try to guess what you're thinking.

Sorry! I did not know about cloning.
I read the one short manual paragraph. HA!

I guess Ill have to find a cloning tutorial.
.....................//...................
A little later/

I see many posts containing the word clone.
I don't want to re-paint.....

but not one one that tells me when how or why to clone.

Is that a step I should take before updating /fixing any erred asset?
......................//.................
A little later still/

Ok..After reading the first few lines of 15 googled pages.

I get it...I think.

OK..Ill try harder to be clear.
Been thinking about getting a speech recognition app.
course that might get me into more trouble.

(this is a good way to find posts of interest)

I know that Asset-X and CCP both say that a mesh container is not required in a bridge asset but the wiki on bridges says that TS12 should have one:

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/HowTo/Build_a_bridge

I would suggest adding

Code:
mesh-table
{
  default
  {
    mesh                                "bridge.im"
  }
}

where bridge.im is the main im file in the asset. Do not add the auto create tag, I know this conflicts with the wiki but I got an error when I included it. I did this in Edit in explorer then edited the config.txt file NOT in CCP as the wiki suggests!

It is not necessary to include the initiator and terminator im files in the mesh table although I have seen them included in some assets but their config.txt file also includes the initiator and terminator tags so its anybody's guess as to which one Trainz uses.

One other possible way might be to add the divider tag with the main im file in the same way the initiator and terminator tags are used. I have not tried this but it might work, though possibly only in earlier Trainz versions.

Bridges that are built-in might need cloning first and converting the .texture files with images2TGA.

Strangely some bridges seem to work correctly without the mesh table others as you have seen omit the centre part of the bridge in game.
