Help with interface

I apologize for needing help with something this basic. I have health issues, I have a tremor, I clicked something above the Train Controls in the bottom right corner of the screen that made that Panel collapse and now I can't get it back to access any of the Train Controls, DCC or In-Cab. The far right "button" indicates that it "toggles the button panel for the Train", but all that does is open and close the row of buttons, it does not open and close the Controls. How do I reset the Controls? Do I need to uninstall Trainz and reinstall to get functionality back? If I do uninstall/reinstall, how do I retain KUID Asset counter for what I am creating for myself without losing any Assets I have created? It is great to be young and healthy, I was there once myself, half a century ago. But Human Beings age, it is part of the natural process of living.https://ibb.co/qFdsdwCq

No worries, there's no need to reinstall.

There's a very small arrow located above the knob in DCC mode or engine controls in cab mode. If you click on that arrow, your sand, horn, bell, etc., will reappear.

I understand. We're all getting old. I too have tremors and they ruin everything.

Thank you for your response. That is not what I am experiencing. I have never seen this scenario before. The DCC Knob and Cab Mode Engine Controls have collapsed and all that is displayed in the lower right corner are the row of buttons for coupling and decoupling, horn, and sanding and that small arrow you mentioned that toggles the visibility of these buttons.

Neither AI or manual control is functional for more than a few seconds and then it is as if something is taking control and the Train simply stalls or is waiting for clearance. I do not have access to "message history" to see what AI is reporting, which is not helpful. The button for Message History is absent along with DCC and Engine Controls.

I have completely uninstalled Trainz and reinstalled everything, which maybe my mistake was in saving the offending route and session and reinstalling that. But this is a route that I have spent two weeks and long hours replacing missing track that was a Missing Asset from a download on the Download Station for a map that I have wanted for years.

Granted, I can trash the whole thing and do it all over again, it's not as if I haven't already spent years nursing Trainz along after investing in it only to be disappointed time after time after time because of constant encounters with Missing Assets after Missing Assets. I would be more open to doing this again if I knew what caused this to begin with. Will it happen again, probably, how do I fix it without having to do it all over again. And I pay a subscription for this privilege.

This link shows the collapsed state of the HUD Panel with the row of buttons. The DCC Button and three dots for toggling Cab Control are gone. https://ibb.co/qFdsdwCq (The popup text informs me that the "Arrow" should Toggle the panel for train control, but it does not do that thanks to whatever I did with my tremor.)

I am ready to trash Trainz and call my venture into this %^&*&&*$ nightmare a lost effort.

Another thing that may not help, if we click too many times on the three dots in a vertical row to change train driving modes, Trainz gets mad and removes control of the train until it is brought to a complete stop. Then it usually gives control back to us to get the train moving again. This is a non-protypical feature that N3V added that really makes me unhappy. I don't know why they had to add that feature.

Also if part of the train is over an industry track that loads or unloads railcars, the program will remove control to do the loading/unloading operation, then return control afterwards. I understand that feature as necessary to run the script to load/unload.

I'm a little lucky that my tremors are usually weak so far. If I'm tired or if my hands are at a certain angle, then tremors kick in. My older siblings are having more trouble. So that's another feature of getting older for me/us to enjoy.

I rarely click on the three dots to change driving mode, so I doubt that is the problem, though with my tremor, it might have been. Thank you for mentioning the industry functionality. I hadn't considered that. As it turns out, the locomotive was stalled over an industry "type" I have never used before, and the train consisted of no cars that would be utilized for that industry, so maybe AI was confused and locked in an infinite loop. All that was needed to "free" the locomotive was switch to Surveyor and manually move the locomotive/train away from the offending industry. I did a lot of work for nothing. Thank you for your suggestion regarding industry loading/unloading. Cooler minds prevailed. I will change the industry to a different type and see if that eliminates this issue. Thanks again, very much appreciated.

That's good news. At least you aren't losing your mind. :)

The industry script will kick in regardless of the wagon type causing the controls to disappear. I've had freight train stopped at a signal with freight wagons in a passenger station. While stopped, the load passengers routine kicked causing the controls to disappear but only for a few minutes. It could be that the industry you were stopped across had bigger queues.
