I'm at my wit's end, I need help georeferencing a map with DEM. It's Canada DEM of the Niagara Falls region. I downloaded the DEM from the Canada GeoBase DEM site, and downloaded the map files to go with it. I chose the more detailed DEM and maps at 1:50,000. When I try to georeference the map, it appears on the DEM wrong when I try to select it. Do I need to merge the east and west DEM's together to fit the map on? If I do, how do I do it? I would appreciate any help.

Hi There,
It's been a couple of years but i did exactly what your trying to do. I used TransDem 1.1 and in the documentation that came with it Roland shows how to GeoRef different types of raster maps including Canada. To merge dems open one dem say the east one then with it open on the screen click FILE DEM>ADD DEM open the west one the second dem should apear beside the first one. Save to two merged dems under a new file name. The topo maps should exactly cover the two merged dems. After saving dems under new name click RASTER MAP > OPEN RASTER MAP and brouse to your downloaded Topo maps and open map for your area of interest. Once opened, click RASTER MAP > GEOREFERENCE WITH MAP CORNERS ONLY. In the documentation Roland explains how to do this. My route is in Southern B.C. I got the dems and Topo maps from the same places you got yours. With Roland's software and tutorials my route turned out better then I expected. Some day I might even get it finished. Good Luck.
