Welcome to Trainz, Trainz115!

Please register your Trainz version as has been requested previously and you'll receive many, many answers to your questions. If you have trouble registering, or have registered previously and created a new account, please contact the helpdesk via the link above in the forums.

First I suggest looking through the manual that comes with the version you have to learn some of the basic techniques. Again, without knowing which version you have, I can't help you specifically. This will give you ideas on how to use the various tools. I also suggest downloading other completed routes and taking a look at them in Surveyor. This will give you an idea on how to use the tools effectively and while you are at it, you can experiment or even expand on what you have downloaded. I did this oh, so many years ago when I first got TRS2004. After I experimented a bit, I then started working on an early version of a route I am still working on today.

The overall route building process is not complicated, however, it is time consuming and can be frustrating and tiring. Having said that, start small, perhaps a baseboard or two then expand from there. You can always start again, or even incorporate what you have created already and merge, and grow from there.

You need a purpose for your route. Do a search in the forums on this. I created some lengthy threads on layout creation. Some of these are answers to others while some are starting threads. There is also a tips and tricks sticky for using Surveyor with some outright brilliant tips on using the various tools to their best abilities.

I might add, to John's very good guidance, that the N3V videos on Youtube for Trainz seem to specialize in quick scenery demonstrations if thats what you are after initially.

I Have Trainz 2009 & Am getting pretty far am a new comer so am learning step by step

And the first step is ...................... REGISTER YOUR TRAINZ SERIAL NUMBER
Then the second step of getting help by ANY means will follow. (including Skype)

I tried 2 register the serial number but it said am entering a "Invalid Serial Number".... I gave my computer 2 a friend so he could get trainz for me but idk how or what he did. I'll skype you what's your skype?

How did your friend get TS09 for you ? You have to find out whether it was an official legal "paid for" download ... see the little green Skype icon next to my name ? Click that.

Trainz registration is non-transferable between two people, you have to have a ligitimate verson ... Warez and torrent downloads are not official registerable products.

If I visited my friend in Iceland, and lent him my Trainz CD or digital download, and he also lent it to his friend in Nome ... that would cut N3V out of 2 more Trainz sales ... which is unethical.

Apparently Trainz Wares Freeware is considered legal by torrent game downloaders ?

In this day and age, everyone thinks payware games ... are "for free" ... everything is "for free" ... if you pirate it !

Well news is he said he downloaded it online from a website called Tpb , I didn't know what that is but yeah

Tpb: "The Pirates Bay" does that give you any clue ... and the right to download piracy games ?

I don't know what Tpb website is ... but if it was an illegal download ,,, a warez version ... Trainz is not free ... by even attempting at registering a illegal torrent download of Trainz is a copyright infringement ... just as lending a Microsoft Windows OS disc to someone ... Microsoft could prosecute people that "lend" a EULA Licensed disc or digital download to another person ... So it is, with Trainz.

No one owns Trainz ... If you bought Tranz, it is still a EULA License, that N3V "still owns" the copyright to ... and N3V has allowed you to use their product (which they sell to you) on your PC.

Trainz Program downloads, and disc's are not free ... If you didn't pay for a disc, or a N3V digital download, you are breaking the law.

When you have an authorized "paid for" Trainz (N3V) registerable disc / download ... plenty of people will help you.
