Help with bridges vs splines

I'm finding that when I try to place a bridge (rail or road,) when I then try to attach the appropriate rail or road spline to it, the spline attaches to the base of the bridge object vertex, rather than at the actual road/rail level. I know there's a simple answer for this, but I can't find it.

I know this is a setting somewhere in 2009, but I can't find it.

Thanks.

Yeah, I did. It doesn't make any difference. To give an example of what I'm trying to do, I'd like to set up the Chana coaling tower (kuid 96914:31005) with a trestle rising from the ground to the coal dump, then another short, level trestle at the other side. I try to attach a track spline to each end (I can't get a trestle, either spline or object) to attach to the attachment point on the coal tower. A track spline attaches to the coal tower, but at ground levem instead of the level of the coal bin.

I did this once a while ago, but now can't do it again.

Connecting

I remember having this happen too before, but I do not remember what fixed it. First off, a tressle is the same as a bridge and two will not connect to each other, so a short section of track/invisible track between the two will make this connection, just hard to get the images to squeeze togeather and still align correctly. As for the tower, connect a section of track from the tower to ground, them attach you main track to this section and delete the spline point. I think this is how I got it to work.
Update: I just looked at the image of this tower. is there two tracks on it? If so, be sure you are attaching to the right one. You might need to add a hidden industry at the point of the bin on a second track line if there is only one with the tower.

Nick,

In order to attach a trestle to the higher track on the Chama Coaling Tower, you need a section of track in between.

If you use Austin Superbendy track (Kuid2:316:38003:2), you can move the trestle and the coaling tower together until the superbendy track almost disappears.

Be sure to set the superbendy track and the trestle elevations the same as the coaling tower track.

Regards, Joe

An alternative to using a super-short connection track (which can look a bit dodgey and is difficult to get smooth if there are grades involved) is to simply place the approach trestle then the industry and (if applicable) a departure trestle and manipulate them into a visually acceptable arrangement, then lay invisible track over the lot and treat the track on the trestle and industry as purely cosmetic...

Andy :)
