Help Getting Started

Hi all,

I purchased Trainz Simulator 2006 and started using it back then. I got caught up in life changing events, Retirement, Relocation from MD to our beloved WI, etc. Now I have time and want to get restarted.

I need suggestions on which program to buy.

Is there a get started guide floating around somewhere?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I still use TRS2006 ... I would recommend TS10 ... but others would say go with TS12 ... patching to SP1 is necessary for the NKP Berkshire pack ... but I hear allot of folks do not patch to SP1 ... that is a decision you must make.

If I had TS12 I would have a PC dedicated to Trainz, and have 2 separate installations of TS12 (one SP1, the other non-SP1).

This is wise, Tom. SP1 or not, if you have sufficiently powerful hardware, you should find TS12 quite enjoyable...for the most part.

Thanks for the advice! Not sure what's wrong with SP1. Why 2 installations? As for a dedicated computer, I know Trainz is a space hog but couldn't I install and run it from a dedicated 3tb external drive?

There are several known bugs with TS12 SP1, with a thread relating to most of them in the TS12 forum.

I would advise caution if running it from an external drive - there have been a few users here reporting problems with frequent disconnections of USB drives.
