Good grief, Cheerio John....get off your damn soap box...who's really trying to cause disruption..?
OK let's put it in terms of roles and responsibilities and SLAs or service level agreements.
Auran create the game engine and except for a few rare cases where they have modified user content they have no responsibility for any assets.
A content creator creates content for a particular version and build of Trainz. Other than to ensure it passes the checks that are made when the item is put on the DLS they have no responsibility to see that it works in a particular version of Trainz.
Most content creators go further than this and have their work checked by the unsung heroes of Trainz, beta testers.
An example is my recnet TRS2004 version items they are created in TRS2009 and are known to have problems in TRS2004 depending on what other content is loaded into TRS2004. In a fresh copy of TRS2004 they work fine. They will not be corrected, my view is upgrade to TC3 and they will work fine, and if you are upgrading then use the TC3 versions they are more stable.
Content creators who license their items you must obtain permission before reskinning this item should respond to requests to reskin but are not required to. Remember that a number have died or moved on, others have given blanket premission in the forum.
Good reskinners or people who can do good textures are few and far between. My personal view is leave them alone to do their magic. Tony is one of these.
If you have a problem with a particular item post in the forum for assistance with the kuid number. A reskinner is unlikely to know how the item was constructed and is unlikely to be able to resolve technical problems others maybe able to help.
You may wish to try it in TRS2009 first, CM2 is good at detecting problems which you can resolve.
