Help finding a good route!!!!

TPR used to have a kit and I'm not sure if its on the DLS too or not, it takes configuration but it does work and has a "tower" , and retarders for each track @ end

Also, building routes is more of a game of patience than anything else, especially when Trainz is kind of like building a virtual model railroad in a sense, with less land & cost than the physical hobby of course. NeilSmith's UMR is a good bet as others have said, but you can always enhance existing routes that might not be perfect for personal use (such as tweaking some curves, replacing track, adding a few buildings/towns. adding catenary, etc etc), PERSONAL being the keyword of course. Browse around the forums to see things people are working on and maybe drive through some layouts or even travel around in the real world to get inspiration then come back to a layout you're working on. I have tons of unfinished projects laying around too. There is plenty of time in the world to work on these things and maybe someday they'll all come together to become a masterpiece. Keep working on those layouts you have, everything starts from an empty canvas.

I understand. I might even just create a museum route since I am trying to get some trains without sound, (smoke for steam engines). I would like to someday make a route that will be featured in the next version of Trainz, but I have a 95% chance that wont happen.

Hi,
I have been in Trainz for 10 years now and I have not been able to master the production of routes of the standard of other creators on here.I find it much easier to take someone else's and modify to suit my needs. If I make a route it is usually flat earth with lots of industries and short on scenery.
I have mostly old routes that were my favourites from 2004 to 2010 running in Tane and modified to the new standards.
Suggestions for routes are hard to give because it is hard to know what is being asked for.
There are some great routes on Checkrail made by Dermmy. They have a lot of good scenery suitable for filming.
Philskene also produces good routes, the older ones were long and had lots of industrial scenery. His later model railroads are something else again.
Don't be disheartened by the comments, it is the time we live in unfortunately.
Good luck with your search.
Cheers,
Mike

...I have thought about leaving Trainz due to people like davesnow who cannot shut up instead of thinking of a reason why someone asks for help. But what I said about people who ask for things (gimme pigs)...
Freeware routes need freeware assets. Freeware assets are made by extremely intelligent and productive volunteers who are willing to share their creations with "busy" people like yourself (in quotes, because, well, you ain't the only one with family and a day job...).

And, yes, "gimme pigs" are a real problem around here. It is not just the intensity of their asking, but also their insensitivity to common courtesy of simply being thankful for what they are getting. Some are young, very young, and I think that needs to be considered at times, but I don't think that the general attitude of content creators is unjustified.

Granted, when I first climbed on board the forum community, I was appalled at some of the responses that I read: they often appeared to be arrogant and cliquish. I feel that some still are, as to be expected in any world-wide community but, in general, I have come to understand that this really isn't the attitude of community at all. Much expressed frustration comes from the flagrant abuse that some of these creators really do get from thankless users.

Davesnow is an outstanding contributor to the community. In my opinion, he has earned the right to be as crabby as he chooses to be! He also has full rights to what he creates, what he chooses to create, and what he shares. We who benefit from his expertise and sacrifice, also owe him the common courtesy to express appreciation genuinely and openly, make suggestions carefully, and provide assistance in any way he find helpful. And he is just one of the many who deserve the same respect.

"It really does make me mad that people say that someone should do it themselves, but in my case, I have trouble staying focused on one thing at a time. I have to mainly focus on school, social activities, and not some game on my pc. Other people who have almost free time, anytime, they make routes or hang out with family. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE LEARN THAT? For example: people who ask TUME for his S3 or when it is gonna be done. Kinda the same thing in this next example: people ask K&L to make a Milw S3 but he replies with saying that someone is making it already and we just have to be patient. I know that it takes time for people to make things, but sometimes: (i.e. me) people loose interest because they do not fully understand something called patient."

Really? Welcome to our world. You seem to be talking crud about davesnow which is completely wrong because he has done 100x more for this community than you have. Yes, I have seen Dave complain a few times, but he does a lot. And when you said which is more important, it depends on who you are. There are some instances where the user has no family to share.
