head out the window

Dunno, it would involve welding though. Your better option is to just stick your head out the window like a dog and start clicking away (what do you think I do?). At least then you can smell the smoke from the engine:p

If the coach has an interior you can add additional camera/view positions to the config.txt. The only problem is that if the creator has been frugal with the polys then the outside of the carriage may be missing and things will look a little odd.

I don't have access to TRS right now so can't check, but I think you may be able to get around this by naming the attachment points a.outsideview0, a.outsideview1 etc. From the description in the CCG, it sounds like it causes the main mesh to be displayed (however I don't know if it also displays the cab mesh at the same time). I know snowsignal's Class 170s use these attachment points for the interior passenger views, in which you can see the same passengers as you can from outside. AFAIK you can't have passenger attachment points in a cab mesh or reference them in a cab config, which is what leads me to think it's displaying the main mesh. I haven't tried this myself so I don't know what the results will be, but I'd imagine there's a reason for having these attachment points rather than just simply adding to the cameralist line in the config.

You'll need access to the mesh or you'll need to create an attached mesh and reference it in the config.

a.outsideview (0, 1, etc..)
• These are located external of the loco body mesh.
• The camera is positioned to face the negative Y
direction of the attachment.
• Toggled using [ and ] using the internal camera mode
after default interior camera view(s).

Well I gave it a go. I placed an attachment point called a.outsideview0 inside the passenger compartment and sure enough, when I hit [ or ] in cab view it takes me to this view, which as you can see below displays the main body mesh rather than just the cab mesh.

So the answer to your question is yes, by placing an attachment point called a.outsideview0 where you want the "camera" to be (Y axis facing away from where the camera is "looking"), you can switch to a "leaning out of the window" view and the coach will be displayed correctly.

Hope this helps,

JB
