Having 'Just Men' and 'Just Women' Passengers. . . .

I was just wondering .....Hhmmm
How hard would it be to change the kind of person that stands there hour after hour waiting for the train ??
We have Russian, American, Japanese, USA Western and French Passengers, all mixed and rather plain-looking.
How would it be if we had men that:
1 - MIB (Men in Black) with sunglasses
2 - Men in bathing trunks (for those Summer screenshots)
3 - Men lying on a lounge chair in the sun
4 - Men with one arm raised and the other whistling for a cab (women don't fit that role too well)
5 - Men dressed in ragged blue shirts and khakis that are really dirty
6 - Men dressed as police officers

How would it be if we had women that :
1 - Were bathing beauties with a tight bikini
2 - Women who wore glasses and looked like a teacher
3 - Women holding their child with one arm and a bag of groceries in the other
4 - Woman and her man-friend walking hand-in-hand
5 - Women dressed as police officers

All these would be singularly important because I want a work force of just men waiting at a tram stop and
a work force of G-Men standing in front of a large office building looking important.
The whole idea would be to have several types of women and men dressed differently as to their job
but have several that could be a group.

I have seen (in Trainz) French women walking with a child, Japanese girls twirling around with umbrellas in the rain.
Chinese men waiting for the next crew to arrive for their shift to start. I have seen Western dressed men and women
doing different things, one is sweeping the porch and the other is in a rocking chair. (these guys were done 10 years ago)

Who can do this job ???

I would prefer passengers to not be so rigid looking, like they have a pencil shoved up their patoo, and not all be standing in a straight line, like lead soldiers, all facing frontways in the same rotation plane

This, at least, is certainly doable. While the posture of the passengers is up to the modeler the facing is up to the person making the platform and it would be easy to make the attachment points vary in position and facing. Pencil42's Generic platforms have the passengers dispersed although they all face the same way.

I've often wanted passenger platforms that would only have men (mining crews, lumber jacks, etc) but the only solution I've come up with is to create a new passenger asset made up of only male meshes.

How 'bout children passengers as well! :hehe: I know I'm throwing you guys way-off from what you've been talkin' about; but after all, children do exist in the real world. Why is it Trainz lacks these lil' critters, huh? Very few children assets exist; and being you guys have been talking about the goings-on of Trainz passenger platforms, this would certainly be another consideration... because there aren't any!

It is possible to clone the passengers item and edit out what you don't want. I have done this twice, once to edit out the unlikely passengers like policemen etc. and once to produce a limited set of "workmen".

`Yes, Yes, Yes ! ! ! Exactly. You're all on the same page. Now that the idea has some foundation, let's come up with a conceivable plan to get these
folks on the train so they can go home (or go to work).
First of all, I cannot do modeling, I just bash 'em together. We would need a group of about 5 to 7 or more, women and the same for men.
Allow them to be placed in the already .IM file within the config folder. Changing the assortment of the group.
OR Create a group of Policemen, coalminers, G-men, etc and have them as a "Passenger group" as we do the others we're accustomed to.
Also within each group, have a few that are walking and can those walk paths be a little bit longer??
Someone made an olde drunk man walk a wobbly path. That looks really good. Someone else made some dancing samba ladies.

I've tried using G-Max several times a few years back and cannot get it to work for me. I can do other crafting.

Now, John, you have had the right idea that I had from the beginning. Take-out OR add-to the existing group, but some of them may change
each time you click on the group as does some of the Russian tram stops.

There are people in bathing suits, waving, etc. that were created by Lotharhake of HP-Trainz. I don't know if they're on their website or on the DLS.

I've used a few of them on my beaches along with their towels and blow up rowboat.

DEC made some children with parents and groups of them as part of his Bush Garden series, which are on the DLS and are great for creating crowds.

And finally Scottish made some people groups, though, these are made up of the built-in people set. These randomly generate a set of people based on a number of points in the asset. These come in groups and queues and are a good mix for crowded platforms, in front of buildings, and other places where people congregate.

It would be nice if it were easier to create our own people sets instead of having to hack and edit preexisting assets.

You can create whatever you like, just create a plane not visible in game and use attachment points and attach what ever figures you want as Scottish has done, done a couple myself as an experiment a long time back.

To make your own people reskin existing figures, they were available as source I seem to remember? Or make your own with Blender using Makehuman with it's Blender tools http://www.makehuman.org/index.php

Yes, I have done this too for my own use using the S&C figures (not randomly selected) including, for example, a small group of people listening to a guide at an open day or heritage site, also groups to place on a platform. To make them randomly selected would be beyond me.

And thank you, teddytoot, for your suggestion of editing out policemen etc, who would not be waiting for a train
