Its a family day after all, to celebrate the Indians keeping us Brits alive that first winter after all (70% of founders died that cold winter)

Canada does. it's on the 2nd Monday of October.

But it's a minor holiday compared to the US. I don't think extended families get together from across the country to celebrate it.

A rather odd comment there gfisher considering I was challenging an entry that was arrogant about your military and it helping every other country in the world so I don't have to look in any mirror as not having made that statement I have no worries. Many in your land have no idea of what is outside on a global basis so it can be stated in perhaps an un-realising ignorance. It is a mistake many over there make being brought up to think the country has an inherent right to be the world's policeman! I have no probs with your celebration but statements such as that made are a bias opinion therefor others entitled to comment. It is a great country in some respects but assumes too much. im sorry if i upset you, what i meant is every country wants to be able to protect there traditions and rights just as us here in the united states do. we all have our own ways of doing things, and if it wasnt for each military, then each nation would be defenseless and not be able to protect themselves. i didnt mean for it to mean that the world is our policemen, but a thanks for everyone who has risked there lives fighting for what they beileve in and there countries. i am sorry if i made it sound like the world are our policemen

This Forum is after all global therefor opinion will be similar. Well done for that and I go along with what you have said in clarifying. The other comment elsewhere about Christmas is silly. I never at any time challenged the Thanksgiving Day in the USA did I? Indeed I repeated my positive reaction to that event in itself didn't I there too?! Gary has summed it up well and I trust yet again that our cousins across the pond had a pleasant time?
