Just asking what goes
Cancelled membership (had Trainz 22 Gold) and now wonder if I am still eligible to download the game again (I assume that when I cancelled M/S I still had access to the game basically the route I had begun
Am I still able to reinstall the game and play it or do I have to renew a membership?

I will assume that you are talking about the Trainz Plus subscription with the Gold membership option (there is no Trainz 22 Gold).

You can cancel your Trainz Plus subscription (at the end of 12 months for the annual subscription or the end of the month for the monthly subscription). If you cancelled before the subscription expires (can you do that???) then you can still use the program until its expiry date. After that the program will not work. However, you can restart or renew your subscription at any later time and you can resume where you left off. You do not need to download and install the game again unless you have uninstalled it from your system.

If you decide that a subscription is not for you then you can purchase outright Trainz 2022 Platinum Edition (TRS22PE) which will give you the closest performance and features to Trainz Plus. However, you will not be able to transfer any of your routes or sessions from Trainz Plus to TRS22 after your subscription has expired.

.... you will not be able to transfer any of your routes or sessions from Trainz Plus to TRS22 after your subscription has expired.
This prompts a question - assuming you can upload routes and sessions from Trainz Plus to the Download Station to share with the rest of the community - is it the Build number that prevents using these routes with TRS22? I'm interested as I currently have a Plus subscription (I'm not really sure why, it doesn't seem to do anything) and I've noticed that my routes are showing as Build 5.6. Is this a Plus build? (Actually, my install of Trainz is version 129335.) And, if so, does that mean I cannot use any of my routes with TRS22 (or indeed share with colleagues using TRS22)? Worse case scenario - if I end my subscription, I lose all my routes?

I'd be very interested to know!

But this brings me back to the original point - in what sense can you not transfer routes built in Trainz Plus into TRS22 after a subscription expires?

You would have to save those routes as .cdp files before the subscription expires. After it expires you will not be able to access Content Manager (as far as I am aware) to be able to make the transfer.

If you cancelled before the subscription expires (can you do that???)
You can turn off the auto renew function at anytime during the subscription period and the subscription lasts to the end of the subscription period. When it expires, you are correct, Trainz Plus will try to authorize when starting up and fail. It then shuts down before the launcher appears.

Hi All
After cancelling your Trainz Plus subscription, and the subscription has ended, the Trainz Plus version will become inactive.

If your account was eligible for one of the Keep Trainz Forever offers that we have had (please keep in mind these were only limited time offers), then you will see the relevant Trainz version (TRs19, TRS22, and/or TRS22 Platinum) shown in your MyTrainz account which you can install and use. If you have access to TRS22 or TRS22 Platinum, then you can re-install Trainz with this, and set the LocalData location to the location used for your Trainz Plus by using this guide:

However please note that any DLC packs that were accessed through the gold subscription (unless purchased through the store separately) will also become inactive after the subscription ends.

Regards

Thanks Zec. It's confusing as my install is still showing as 'Trainz 22 PE' build 129335. TRS22PE is the version I had before subscribing to Plus so I'm not sure how and if it's changed. I don't think I would have subscribed to Plus if I'd known it would cause these kind of issues (and I remain unsure as to what, if anything, it actually gives me.)

TRS22PE can not be upgraded to Plus. This is a retail version only. If you buy a subscription to Plus, you need to install the Plus version from MyTrainz.

Yes it can be confusing.

The program title bar for Trainz Plus will always show the name of the latest retail Trainz release. I started my Trainz Plus subscription when TRS19 was the latest retail release and the Trainz Plus title bar showed Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019. When TRS22 was released Trainz Plus received an update at the same time and its title bar changed to Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022. When TRS25 (or 26) is released I fully expect the Trainz Plus title bar to show that version.

I always look at the graphics in the Trainz Launcher window and on the Trainz Main Screen where you select Surveyor, Driver, etc. They will show Trainz+

Hi Paul
Build 129335 is the 'TRS22' retail build (both TRS22 standard and TRS22 Platinum use the same build). This version will work irrespective of your subscription, as you purchased the TRS22 Platinum Edition through the store.

So as to keep it separate; and hence as clear as possible for those using it, the Trainz Plus version is a separate version of Trainz which you can access through your MyTrainz account. There's nothing stopping you from having both installed, however we would recommend not using the same local data folder for both at the same time (so long as you keep both up to date, it should work, but it's guaranteed).

Regards

Good grief! I am staying with 19.
Ha ha ha ! I bought TRAINZ 22 (build 129388) and have been content with it for the most part. I don't need any Gold Platinum Silver Plus Plus Special Edition stuff. I keep my distance from any software that requires a continuous subscription. Quickest way to lose my business.

Each to their own. I have had the Trainz Plus subscription since it first appeared, and upgraded it to Gold membership when that was offered, and I am happy with both. But I can appreciate that not everyone can afford or wants the subscription model.

Do you have TRS22 or TRS22PE? The PE version is the better of the two and is just $US30 more. It it has more features, including Surveyor 2.0, and bonus routes and rolling stock.

Hey pware, I was being sarcastic about the entire gaming software industry, not specifically about Auran or the TRAINZ group of software. All companies have to tout their products and services as being new and improved. Even Coca-Cola or Tide Laundry Soap. Gotta keep pushing the brand.
I'm overall extremely impressed and pleased with my version, which is TRS22 as far as I know. Build 129388, you tell me.
I'm impressed by the fact the core programs are reasonable payware, backed up by reasonable pay.oware additions. Buyer beware.
I just bought Scratchy's Coal Country 2.0. I can see I gotta lotta work to git done. Over.

Thanks again Zec and others who have pitched-in. Looks like I never installed Plus, no wonder I was clueless as to what it added! I'm happy to continue with TRS22PE which does all the stuff that I want, but can anyone remind me what might be the benefits of creating a separate Plus installation?

Paul, that's my question exactly. Nothing is clear as to pricing for better benefits. TRAINZ needs tndo put up front a comprehensive chart of what I have, and where I wish to go with it, and the cost.
I don't mind spending and investing in TRAINZ, it clearly is a worthwhile endeavor. And perhaps Auran and TRAINZ are losing sleep over this. (kidding)
Get some sleep. You gotta 4:10 AM Coal Run, 32 cars loaded. Over.

You mean N3V needs to make it clearer, Trainz is the product line with various versions. They did here provide something that may be helpful for you:

Scroll to the bottom for a chart listing out the features and cost. The information above shows all the features of Plus.
