That photo was taken early this morning its the Melbourne Cup Express running Sydney-Melbourne to pick up the slack due to the Qantas lock out

no one gives the right answer but i think its really difficult to answer this as the locomotive is almost hidden and that locomotive is only used in our country though it is made by general motors in late 70's
i think i should take my question back and put the one that is well known guy

The EMD 8 Export Model style of Loco ended up all over the world - including at least 6 diffrent style in Australia - The T series for Vic Rail and the 49 Class here in NSW are some examples

Whose turn is it exactly? Is it ptrainman's or bearcat245's turn as they each got a pic correct but....

It is supposed to be mine since I answered Jackies question right and it was ahead of all these others so here is mine.

What is it?
WHat is it rebuilt from?
When was it rebuilt?
How many are there?

Paul

It is a NS GP38-3 with it's numbers cleverly edited out.
It was rebuilt from a GP50.
It was rebuilt sometime between 2004 and 2007.
37 were rebuilt.

....but if the game was going by the rules it would be ptrainman's turn, of which I can see it is. (This statement is redundant).

Alright, haven't done this in a while but here it goes.

What is it?
Who owned it?
What is the wheel arrangement?
How many were there?
When was it built?
Where was it built?
Who built it?
How many exist still and where?
What was the nickname given to the rather rotund engines?

(In the past, I usually went for difficulty or quantity, guess which this one is)
