Gradient trouble...

Now T:ANE I can get into
At several points in my route, one set of tracks remains at ground level, while a parallel set of tracks begins to ascend/descend a grade. However, I am running into issues due to the close proximity of the two tracks. The ground level tracks will either end up buried in the embankment of the parallel ascending tracks, or the ascending tracks will be left floating because leveling the terrain of the ground level tracks cuts into the embankment. The route is prototypical, so I cannot really space them apart any further.

I whipped these up to illustrate my problem.

Flat terrain. Ascending tracks on left, level tracks on right.

Level tracks raised by/buried in embankment of ascending tracks.

Level tracks cutting into embankment of ascending tracks.

Is there a way to work around this in '06? It is to my understanding that narrower embankments can be made in later versions of Trainz.

You could also use a track which has a built-in wall underneath. That saves the hassle of having to accurately line up and lay a track spline over an object spline.

Try UK_Stone_Wall by ChileanLlama on the DLS (make sure the TRS2004 box is checked). This one is single track, but there are 2 track versions as well, both in different styles.
