UP sucks. SP>UP. UP is a mob of greedy punks just like the politics in D.C.
George,
I've seen dumb moves like this too. Foamers will do anything to "with the railroad", but the problem is they could never work for one because they'd spend more time watching for antique equipment and noting down engine numbers than doing their job. There have actually been cases of this in the past from what I've read over at Railroad.net.
People may complain about UP taking over SP and the Rio Grande, but at least the UP is still running trains on these routes. In the end the SP was in such poor shape that they could barely get a freight to run any distance at any speed.
Read some of the stories about this here:

along with many of his other links.
By this time, the SP was heading into the same condition the Rock Island was going, and not too far from what Guilford (PanAm) runs today on its own lines. I'm not counting their reworked joint track with NS, or the MBTA (state) owned trackage in MA.

And to serve its customers well? Oh, forget about that..............The priority of a business is to stay in business and make money for it's stockholders,.
Excuse my ignorance here. It's a cultural thing...
Firstly, what's a foamer?
Secondly, by patched, does the OP mean the mismatched repairs to the loco? If so, on Eaglefan's pics, this is a couple of panels. Is this a major issue? Pardon me if I've got it all wrong.
EF, your pics are way to large for this forum; COC says 800 x 600 unless in Screenshots. You're killing that!![]()
Nothing to get hot under the collar about really is it?
Not sure why you thought I was getting hot under the collar. Wasnt even close to it.
