Good Éire railway books list

Hi All.

Does anyone have a list of any good Éire railway books that tell the history of Éire railways and/or show line drawings of railway stock up to the present day?

As someone from England who is starting to run out of UK subjects to read, I would like to start researching the Éire railway system. The 1940's to 1960's look very interesting to me at the moment.

Maybe stretching it a bit but I got hold of a publication that shows every single line on the whole island. It's A4 size in a jotter style with thin card covers. It's part of a whole series of "Railway Track Diagrams" (the series covers various parts of the UK and S. Ireland as well and this one is called 6 Ireland. The maps however are all in linear fashion though but show junctions, level crossings, farmer crossings, stations, crossovers, main station layouts. etc. It is by the Quail Map Company. When I lost my original whilst over in Belfast I traced another copy on the NET.

I also have another booklet showing freehand drawings lines including those now closed. It is part of a different series. There are no pictures in either just plans, etc.

Thanks for the replies and at least it's a start in finding something new. :wave:

Maybe next year I will get the misses to do a field trip to Éire to have a look at what's left (That's if I can find a way out of the local pubs :hehe: ).
