Gone Loco

Crazy Train Engineer
Moved my Trainz 22+ install/data over to my newly aquired Mac Pro M2 Ultra - 24C CPU/76C GPU/128GB RAM w an OWC Accelsior 8M2 PCIe 4 (8x8TB-26,000MB/s). We'll see how it does as this box does many other things with a lot running in the background. More than likely I will be moving back to the M4 Pro, we'll see.

Phew! I thought for a moment that this was a thread about a missing locomotive but it seems that it is about the other meaning of "Loco" 😄

What language is that:confused:? My Google Translate did not recognise it.
Loco means crazy or nutty in Spanish.

Things are going smooth as expected other than my earlier/elsewhere mentioned Trainz beta hiccups. Should be hooking up the OWC Accelsior today just waiting on a PCIe 4.0 aux power cable. So far the Trainz beta, my Local AI/LLM 70B models, Python, Homebrew, Plex server, File sharing, both RAID 0 setups along with Drobo NAS and Oyen TB4 DAS..etc..etc are all playing nice. Doing more and more "command line kungfu" nowadays which puts me "back in time" and keeps the ole noggin sharp. John..Great to see you back around the place.

That is a very fast SSD drive array for MAC. Should be a barnstormer.
Not just Mac. Also works with -
  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10 32-bit Edition
  • Windows 10 64-bit Edition
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2022
Must have proper PCIe support on motherboard obviously along with an ample power supply

Very happy with the OWC Accelsior 8M2 so far. Spun up 4x500GB in a RAID0 using SoftRAID via a full length x16 gen4 (PCIe 4) slot specifically for testing Trainz along with several 100B+ LLM/AI models locally. Tossing 2 Linux and 1 Mac OS SL Server VM on next. Great addition to any Mac, Windows or Linux box. Highly recommend.
