Hi all well Vicki and I are going to Bisbane for 15 days at the end on october
We are staying in Nerang so I am looking forward to that
I well try and ditch the wife (Vicki) with her sister for the day and head into Bris
and see if I can fine a rail yard to take some pics of trains
I have no idea of my way round but it should be cool
so stay tuned and if its ok with all of you I well post pics of my trip
and If I should bump into some fallow trainzers then even better

Well, be sure to drop in and say Hi to me. :)

I hope you enjoy your stay in Brisbane, when you get here.

Go to Bown Hills station (Near the city, grab a timetable and map) - the depot at Mayne is nearby. You should be able to get a few shots of it fom the platform or entering/exiting on the train. It's also where the crews change over, so you might be able to have a conversation with them.

And I look forward to your pictures.

Kieran.

Hi Chris

You will enjoy riding the Gold Coast Line - 140kph (only 130 on a new unit, pfft!). Nothing like that in NZ...

Mayne will prove quite difficult to photograph from Bowen Hills platform, or any public locality for that matter, other than from trains. Your best bet would be to catch a Ferny Grove train (every 15 mins off-peak as of yesterday) and sit on the LHS. As you leave Bowen Hills you pass over the Mayne Flyover, above the yard. Might I suggest a trip to Redbank - much better viewing for the public (from roads), bigger variety of rollingstock (many CQ coal hoppers lately, but also locos and other stuff), plenty of freight moving on the mainline. For EMU's in a yard, perhaps Caboolture will be your best shot, although you'd have to be up there pretty early or late to see it full. Maybe not if you've got to get to/from Nerang.

While at Redbank, why not slip down (up) the line to Ipswich and go to the Workshops Rail Museum?

Enjoy your stay.

I think I well head out on my own and doo these things and if I am very unlucky I might even get lost
