GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

Thought I'd share some of my work. The first two are from school.

Started this one today.

Any idea on how to get these in Trainz?

Don't think Sketchup is the best source for Trainz objects. Too many polys is one issue. Vetices not welded is another. Then I don't think there is an exporter to create the IM files needed for Trainz. Best go for a real 3d modeling program, GMax, Blender or if you can afford it, 3DSMax.

Nice effort by the way. From school? I hope that was a legitimate school project.

Thanks! I actually did these in a tech class. As far as exporting goes, I could always use gmax. Any idea on how to export these from Gmax?

That's the easy part. You don't start Gmax by itself. You need to use the Trainz Asset Creation Studio which starts Gmax. See Trainz Content Creation Pack on that page. That way the Trainz exporter is added to the menu system and IM files can be exported. If you already have GMax, I wouldn't be using Sketchup or you will be wasting a lot of time redoing your work.

Alright! I use sketchup because I find it easier to work with. Now if I had the trainz asset creation studio, how would I export meshes into a .IM file?

By using the Export selection in the file menu. I never use Gmax without starting via TACS so I'm not sure but that selection is probably not there without TACS.

True, there is a learning curve, more like a cliff according to some, but you get out of it what you put in. Eventually, you just have to imagine an object and you will be able to make it.

G'day ivantr,

I was wondering if you had solved your window rubbers creation 'problem' yet? If you haven't I can help you with that...

Hi: Is there anybody out who would like to put this into trainz??

..All I want is credit for the drawing..

Oooh and he's just missed it.... It is a 67, Steve, but not a Boss or a Ford badged Mustang. It's often reffered to as being a completely separate brand to the Ford ones, and rarely called a "Mustang".

And Jamie, good to see that some people still recognise the first Mustangs as being 1964 models, not 1965.
