GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

The ET&WNC had a design for a 2-6-6-2 for the Linville River Ry. But the design was never put into use since the great flood of 1940 wiped out the entire Linville section of the track. The design was made, but never used, I could make a model of it, but it would be mostly hit n miss on the details.

For the smoke box, the book never metioned if it was extended, I just thought it was a standerd smokebox for a mastadon type locomotive. The drivers look pointed because the textures on them are broken up. I still have alot to learn on how to texture. I hope to finish the engine before the end of the year.

Rock On!

Can you hear? Can you hear the whistle echoing thru the blue ridge mountians?

I hope you can see though. ET&WNC #12 is almost done being textured, not quite, but almost. There are a few things I have not textured yet. Let me know what ya'll think.

That is amazing! Really can't wait for it now!

Nope, it's based of the real ET&WNC #12, which is located at Blowing Rock North Carolina. The Bachmann big haulers were actually a 42" version of #12. It made for a great starter kit for large scale collectors. I am happy Bachmann made the On30 ET&WNC #11, 12, & 14. The #12 is for the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina/Linville River Railroad project for Trainz. I am planning on building the whole route from Johnson City Tenn. to Boone NC. I have some freight cars, and Vistas coaches in the works, as well as the some stations. Im waiting on Johnny Graybeal to publish the book Along the ET&WNC Volume 7 Buildings and Structures.

How about Paul Hobb's D2400 bogie to start with- that has mechanical jackshafts so is not ideal but it might allow you to get an idea of how the finished article might look? The other one to try would be Pikka's class 08 bogie, I'm not sure if the side plates are attached to the bogie or body though, if they are not attached to the bogie this may be a better one?

Remember the curve on the cab roof also!

Good luck with the project, I'd be interested in seeing screenshots as you progress.

If you get it looking very close to the prototype I may even have a go at knocking up some phototextures for it (I got some really good pics of 97654 while it was at Slateford a good few years back).

Did you get any shots showing the interior- If not do you happen to know what it looked like -- Maybe like an 03 since the main body looks sort of the same?

Unfortunately no as it was still in use on the BR system at the time. There are a few preserved so hopefully someone could help with this, in the meantime I'd advise using Paul Hobb's class 02 interior.

Try this link for lots more photos, including one by me...
