GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

Steep learning curves indeed....

Spent a whole evening getting the wipers and windows lined up. I wonder if there is such a gadget as "align to normal" available because that would save a lot of hairs.

Anyway it is the cab of my upcoming Swiss Electro Locomotive type Ae 6/6 of which I do not have an updated render to present (yet) so you will have to make do with this pre-skinning one:

Is that a steering wheel? :hehe:

Most probably is. Many European locomotives have that. Its a throttle. I guess you turn it a certain way, and it will allow the loco to accelerate. I'm not sure. I'm used to our U.S. levers!!!lol!

Made This Today (1 hour building time)
And Its not Crappy! (For once)

For the benefit of the US trainzers

Is that a steering wheel? :hehe:

It's a Schaltrad for the Stufenschalter (stepwise throttle) which corresponds to the throttle/dynamic brake levers that you US folks are used to, this just uses left/right rather than forward/back action. The reverser is the lever to the right of the wheel.

The lever mounted high on the left side is the locomotive/independant brake. The other lever is the train brake. The big crank in the middle is the parking brake.

The sportscar style wheel is an ergonomic thing, the original wheel was made of steel probably with a thin coat of bakelite and given the temperatures in the Alps in wintertime it would have made for sore hands and other little nasty side-effects.

Yojimbo -

There is a "Normal Align" tool in both Max and Gmax. You'll find it under the "Align" icon in the top toolbar.

Seems to be the story of my life..... hee hee.... The problems of being autodidact is the lack of stringency. You tend to approach the matter in a strict utilitarian way rather than follow a civen curriculum, hence you do not pick up any "excess luggage" on the way. But then again you tend to bang your head against issue like the alignment thingie (which was presented to you in class 4.2 of the basic MAX course).

Anyway I found a lot nice little plugins for all sorts of things on maxplugins.de
Those who haven't yet been around that site: GO THERE!

Nice job Rob. Really nice :D
Looking forward to this one :) These are 3 cylinder locos are they not???

Indeed they are. I've also gone and modelled the inside valve gear on them ;)

Rob

Ok, these are now a MUST have once done... lol

Also, stop making me want to add the inside cylinder (and motion) onto the S class! And that conjugating (SP?) valve gear on the front :P

Seriously though, really looking forward to it. Any 3 cylinder loco is most welcome on my computer :)
