What is express passenger Purple? I've never heard of it, and when googled nothing shows up.

P.S. I love the engine, can't wait to see it done!!

Wow! Loving that A3, I can't believe its only now someone's making a detailed, TS12-spec version. As far as liveries go you've got an awful lot of options; LNER Green, Wartime Black, Apple Green with "BRITISH RAILWAYS" on the tender and Express Passenger Blue would be the ones I'd most like to see.

Ed, that's looking absolutely fantastic.

Nick, out of curiosity, does the tram look the same in-game? That's a really nice glossy finish, with the bumpy panels and all.

@mick1960: your WIP: klv12 certainly puts Wickham's Trolley to rest then. Is this for T:ANE?

I have no possibility to test assets in Tane, because of my old computer. So for now, it will become more likely a TS12 asset.

I only hope that tbumpenv will be able to translate my V-ray material properties.

Mick!

Very difficult to find colour photos of BR Express purple, the link to the model is below, this is a Dovetail Games Train simulator addon by Justtrains A4 in Express Purple. My question is what was management thinking-Purple Steam locos?

Super excited about the Pegler version, and that it will include all that detail, there is a FS with 2 tenders on the DLS, but just the standard Waterman version, it has no LNER crest, green cylinder sides, and the plates are black, and it is very old and has some texture issues if I try to recolour the nameplate the red.

Personally,

After learning of this Ultramarine livery yesterday, I find that it suits the Gresley A3 (and A4) nicely.

Can anybody produce any contemporary photos of this so called purple? I think it was the blue shown above which I can remember as a boy and it probably faded to a slight purple shade. I think I am right in saying that it was based on the Caledonian Railway blue which would not surprise me as Riddles was an ex LNWR/LMS man.

This is the only contemporary colour photo I've ever seen on the web:

This livery (described as either purple or ultramarine) was experimental while BR decided their new express livery. There were several experimental liveries including this and and an apple green, both with LNWR style lining (as used for the BR lined black livery). It shouldn't be confused with the express blue that was subsequently chosen which had Caledonian style lining.

Looking beautiful edh6. That is the Flying Scotsman I love (minus some cosmetic details), it truly does look quite beautiful. I cannot wait to finally have an up to date Flying Scotsman, one newer than 2004 or 2006 or whenever the current was made.

Quite nice as well trainboi1, but may I ask, are those Peppercorn A2s or Thompson/Peppercorn A1s inside?

All together this thread has had some very beautiful LNER locos lately, the LNER Apple green for me was the highly beautiful, second to only the GWR with all the brass, and the copper capped chimney and brass safety valve bonnet.
Beautiful though,

It seems that Ed works at the speed of the trains he's building... Perhaps explains why my content creation interests (freight) are dragging along slowly :hehe: .

So true. This beautiful 4472 is progressing so rapidly, it's construction speed certainly takes the ribbon compared to the real FS's overhaul speed.

It's an old Peppercorn A1 that's not exactly brilliant, but has provided parts for the K3, V2, P2 and quite possibly the above A3(I wouldn't know).
