GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

Have you tried adding a decimate modifier to it? I've found using the Planar setting reduces the text poly count to something more acceptable whilst looking almost exactly the same...

That brought the tris down from around 13000 to 8000... thanks! now from some selective face un-dividing. It's kind of odd how blender places edges on a face that don't necessarily have to be there.

Hallo justinroth,

what about LOD?
You keep the 3d-text-sign inside the highest LOD-mesh.
For the next-LOD-meshes you create a special alpha blended texture which looks like the front view of the 3d-text-sign. You create just a single plane to make a second text-sign which will be not 3d and you will need to include that second text-sign into another LOD-mesh.

I would recommend you switch off the highest LOD-mesh including the 3d-text-sign to change over to the next lower LOD-mesh including the non-3d-text-sign in a distance of about 200 Meters or so. I am sure you will find a good distance to do so.
If the non-3d-text-sign looks not similar enough like the 3d-text-sign in trainz - just adjust the special alpha blended texture until it matches.

I hope that helps.

So many cars to mod, so little time...

But for now, the first of many:

That round-end looks beautiful jacksonbarno. I love the streamlined modern, "space" look. Combines the McKeen Style with the streamlined round end. I find that carriage very nice.

Thanks guys! Most of the credit goes to Trainboi1 since I only modded the obs that he already made for his Daylight set.

Saturnr, that's the look that I'm going for, glad ya like it!

There has been a debate on this before. Everything in the Thomas books is based on real-life. The Skarloey Railway is basically the Talyllyn Railway relocated to Sodor- even some of the events that happened in the original books happened in real life.

That is true especially with the Railway Series books. There is even a website that shows documents of the real events that have happened in each book like there really was a British steamer that fell down a hole when the ground gave way.

I read on the wiki about some events are based on real events. Like also how the story of duke was based on a real prince class engine being found in a Brazilian rain forest.

Kid's let's get back on topic please.

Here's a fictional locomotive that is based off a real locomotive.

Been working on the tender a bit. I've perfecting the hell out of it, along with rest of the locomotive.

Rock On!
