Hey Bill, that looks like a GE switcher I road in back in the 1980s... 44 ton unit. Bay Area Electric Railway Association, in Rio Vista had it. Is that similar to what you are building?

Paul

That would be Visalia Electric 502. (I think I might have road in it once or twice myself) That and SN 146 are the 44 tonners I'm using for all my technical information, reference pictures and measurements I need. The main one I'm modeling mine after is 146 which is 1 year newer and there is notable differences if you know were to look but the differences are not drastic.

yes, that is the one... seemed so much bigger when I was 11 or 12 years old. now it looks tiny... wow. that is huge detail in a small space. thanks for showing your work!

Yeah, the SD35 was a little stubby compared to later EMD six axle offerings. It's just a foot and a half longer than the frames the GP38-GP50s ride on. When it doesn't have the trucks on easiest way to tell is the two dynamic brake fans vs one on the four axles. Off topic, but I'm posting this while onboard an Amtrak train and getting the evil eye from my girlfriend who insists I am going overboard posting about trains while riding one.
