GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

Will these be vaporware? Hmmm, probably

Hello everyone, I'm a bit split time about Trainz. My 4-6-0 is still in finishing stages and also, awaiting animations of its driving wheels. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying my mood and building a Brazilian ALCo RSD-8, narrow gauge diesel-eletric locomotive (1000mm). The locomotive that I am constructing, was exclusively rescued by the ABPF - Associação Brasileira de Preservação Ferroviária - (Brazilian Association of Railway Preservation), in the colors of its original railroad, Companhia Paulista (CP).

I started modeling it last Tuesday, and I already have a lot ready to receive the textures. All the holes that you will see are from doors, it means that I intend to animate those doors and windows. See two detailed images below:

There are still improvements to be made, I would like to offer a beautiful and well done model. After ready, I will use the same method that was used for my EFCB 2-8-8-4 Yelowstone, will be charged a small Brazilian (R$ reais) That converted into dollars or euros will be something minimal.

This amount will be charged exactly for the fact, so that I can invest and continue with my projects. As I said in my Yellowstone publication, it is not easy to get the information you need from these authentic models in Brazil, especially older ones, datasheets, and historical data no longer exist! However, everything goes well, and I hope to be able to contribute more and more with brazilian rolling stock to Trainz. Thank you all, I hope to be able to return to the forum to announce this 100% finished model!

Greetings.

Looking great there :D . First time seeing a Co-Co narrow gauge loco, first time seeing a narrow gauge ALCo.

Sorry if I keep mentioning Indian Railways on these forums but it certainly is reminiscent of a WDM3D and YDM4 at the same time.

After a bout a year I decided its time for a rebuild of the old GX650 model, RCW been grounded for awhile now so I finger I would pull this out of the shed and give it its 4th refit. The DPR GX650 was one of Dragons Pass Railroads most used locos for about 46 years going up entell abandonment, I was looking at this model and got sick of how ugly it looked at the rear and was in need of a hole new body refit and some replacing of some of the parts for a more clean look.
Bla bla bla I'll post progress shots as this goes on.

I decided to dig up and finally get around to finishing my C32-8 from several years ago. Step 1 in that process has been reworking a lot of the major details on the unit. Just as one example, I had to actually center the nose of the unit because it was actually about 2 inches off center. After that, it has mostly been detail upgrades. I had the shape of the exhaust stack completely wrong previously, it has now been reworked so it should be about as close to correct as I can get it. I've gone through and reworked all the grilles on the sides of the unit as 3D instead of being 2D and textured to look 3D, and I've made some minor adjustments to the shape as well. I've also completely reworked the radiator section from prototype photos, so now it should look vastly better. I've also added the DB blowers and I've relocated the horn back to the long hood. Currently most of my efforts have been concentrated on the pilots and the couplers more specifically as I try to avoid doing the handrails for as long as possible. The coupler is about halfway done give or take, I still need to get back to the museum so I can continue measuring and get the rest of it correct, but for now, here is a render of what I've reworked so far:

Nice job there Southern1581. I really dig that C32-8. Very well detailed.

Anyway I have been going back over some of the parts for my steam locomotives. I found that some of them needed an upgrade so I went straight to work to bring them up to my current standards.

First up is my Hancock 3 Chime whistle. Initially, I simply created a generic whistle for my steam locomotives, not really caring how they looked. Now, the whistle is prototypical and much more detailed. The one on the left is the old whistle and the one on the right is the new one.

Then there is the bell. When I first created it the bell was static and lacked a pendulum. Now, it has a pendulum and is fully animated.

New, more prototypical headlights:

And lastly, an AAR style coupler. My old coupler completely pales in comparison with this one. The old coupler was comparable to a rectangular prism that had been bent into a "coupler-ish" shape. This new coupler is now well detailed and it has been animated so that the coupler opens and closes. In fact, the only "easy" part of the coupler was the animation. The rest of it was an absolute pain. Also, bear in mind that there are a couple details that I have purposely left out. This was mostly due to keeping the mesh fairly low-poly. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the polycount is around 1.1k. In my mind, thats not too bad.

Take care folks!

Progress Shot: I rebuilt the body completely and fixed up the details abit, I added a turbine generator just behind the cab this was used to boost power to the traction motors wend it was needed for heavy loads or steep grads with out extra power. I'm thinking about placing 6 small fans inside the turbine generator housing that's what the 3 small vents are for on each side.

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE! I finally got the main rods working! These are the Wip shots of the AT&SF 3751 Class 4-8-4s I've been working on, please note that the textures are only fill in as place holders for mapping. Plus the detail parts are not mine, I just wanted to see what it would look like if it had some details on it. The Trailing Truck isn't mine, Pilot truck is mine, but not the textures. I've been spending the past two months on this project and I think the tender is coming along better than the engine. I'm doing all four versions including the 3752 with Franklin Rottery Cam Poppet Valves, once I learn how to do it all...lol.
