Any news on the status of the GE ES44HAC? Is it currently up for production and no one has ordered it or is it still in demonstration and testing mode only? There's been quite a few YouTube videos of the hybrid evolution engine on hours across the country but mainly in so cal in the la area including the lax union terminal.

Is that what they're calling it?

No, I don't know anything current. My best guess is that they are still working on manufacturing facility for the sodium-ion batteries and possibly some further emission scrubbers. Likely the bat factory won't be running until there's a non-locomotive market for sodiom-ion bats. No use running a factory one or two days out of every week to make the bats for 2-3 locos a day.

Ba-bump. I have talked with at least 1 guy that works at GE, and he has told me that the project is temporarily shelved while Na-Ion technology is being brought up to par. It has promise, he says, but it needs much more work before it can handle the capacity a locomotive needs. Otherwise, it sounded like there was sales appeal.
