Getting a new PC and I have a question

343 NEVER FORGET
I am getting a new PC with Windows 7 and am wondering how do I get Trainz 12 I have on my old system to my new one without loosing anything? Will I have to start from scratch and download everything I have accumulated over the last couple of months, or can I save stuff on a flash drive and install in on the new PC. Thank you for your time, Danny

Using start then computer locate where for eg 2010 is, open folder TS2010, open user data, the local file (I think) is all your modified and downloaded assets are. Save that and import to your other comp.
Probably other ways.
Plan B: Using a USB cable transfer the whole lot over.
Plan C : As long as the O/S isn't on the drive put the drive in the new comp.
Plan D :

Slight addition/correction...

The unmodified content is in <trainz installation folder>/UserData/original.
The modified content is in <trainz installation folder>/UserData/local.

Note that this does not include built-in content.

So, just install Trainz fresh then drag those folders over and rewrite? Thank you Shane and fran1, I appreciate your info!

USB them if you can, everything in the TS12 folder at one go, built in, modified etc.
If not temporarily couple the old drive up to your new comp and copy/paste the TS12 folder to where you want.

The problem is I am going to use the hard drive I am using now because it is really good. So everything is going to be wiped out for Windows 7.

You can save your self built or modified routes and any modified Content as CDP's to an external HDD then import them to your new PC. I have found that simply trying to copy Trainz over from one PC to another usually has negative side effects.

It's usually a case of finding the assets you want in Content Manager, selecting them, then using Save to CDP. A warning though - CDP files cannot be more than 512MB without issues.

It's normally easier to backup the UserData folder if you have a lot of content.

You also save your own routes and any stock or content you are bothered about. Obviously if you are doing a fresh install of TS12 in your new PC you can just drag your Routes over to Download and let them download anything else they need.
Personally I never run any of the built in Routes so it isn't a problem (for me).

Why not just copy over your entire Trainz installation? That would mean you wouldn't have to first install it on your new computer, patch up to the latest build, and then import all of your content.
